If you like hot dogs done Chicago style they got um.. This restaurant is under new management. The owner/chef takes pride in his food. My husband loves hot dogs but they can be hard to find. Looking at the menu online I had decided on a hamburger. I was disappointed that burgers are no longer on the menu. The owner cooked one up for me. No charge. Customer service is important and if you want a taste of Chicago pizza, Chicago dogs or cheeses teak or gyros… anything Chicago… check them out.

Where a Chicago Dawg…… is a damn good Chicago Dawg. After returning home from Chicago a few weeks ago, I had to make the rounds in Austin to find a ‘taste of home’ Chicago Dawg. To my surprise, I landed at Lucky’s in Round Rock. There was, one close runner up, but the rest of the competition continues to outdo themselves by creating ‘Food Network’ versions of the Chicago Dog. WTF!! That would be What The FRANK is going on. I say, Keep with tradition and dont mess with perfection. At Lucky’s, they maintain Chicago tradition in Austin…. and then some. During our visit, we ordered 6 dawgs. They were expertly put together, consistent in quality and made to order. Ingredients included: Nicely steamed poppy seed buns Fresh snappy franks w/peppers, tomato, Kosher pickle, green relish, etc. Embedded with mustard and topped off with celery salt. MMMMMmmmmActually I know this is going to sound way too freaky, but the chef had great knife skills. The condiments were prepared similar to Sushi restaurant. Anyway, back to reality. So if you are hungry for a Chicago Dawg in the Austin area, and dont like the commute to Chi Town, I recommend Luckys as a local favorite.

Very poor service. We ordered a Chicken Club BLT, onion rings, and Grilled Chicken Salad. The club was missing the chicken and the salad was missing some of the toppings. It was supposed to come with tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, green peppers, and carrots. There were exactly 3 tiny pieces of tomato, a few carrot shavings, a couple green pepper slivers, and absolutely no cucumbers even after sending it back. The cook got defensive saying that everything was cut up small, guess the cucumbers were cut microscopic. His defense for missing the chicken on the sandwich was that his very young daughter told him BLT. Obviously she was using short hand and don’t blame here. The Chicken Club BLT was the only BLT on the menu so it is bad on the cook for missing that. However, he offered no excuse as to why he left out our order of onion rings. $16 for this meal and having to wait over 30 minutes for it after 8 pm is poor. The final straw was not being given a fork for the salad. It was in the bag the first time but was removed after the order was sent back. The sandwich was only okay and the salad sucked! We will never order from this place again.

Great Chicago dogs, chilli dogs and chilli fries. When I am craving a good hot dog this is my place.

I Wasn’t Wowed. It’s kind of pricey for so-so food. Their menu online doesn’t give prices, but for example, the Fire Dog Chicago Style was $4.66 and the Italian Combo was $6.99. The sub had a lot of meat, but not a lot of flavor. Don’t bother with the fries. They weren’t good at all.

Chicago dogs as good as you’ll find up there, but the cheddar chicken sub is my favorite.
