Quick, polite, and pretty good. 3/5. I always look for these kind of places, the small, not overly fancy looking, hole-in-the-wall types places. If you can manage to squeeze into a parking spot you’re in for a cheap treat. The food is all authentic, made with quality ingredients, and has that homemade taste, even the side dishes. You can catch a quick, tasty meal here for less than $7 and even score a few beers for under $2 (I’m not sure the last time I was somewhere where beer was cheaper than soft drinks). If you’re in town and need a quick meal, I recommend a stop. It’s not the best I’ve had, but for the money you can’t go wrong here.

We went to the one off of Sherwood way. I had the carne asada and it had an overpowering lime flavor and was so tough I could barley cut it with my knife! Not satisfied at all!
A San Angelo jewl.. One of my favorite San Angelo cafes. I’ve eaten at Hidalgos more times that I could ever recall and have never had a bad meal or experience. I had lunch there today and left once again very happy. The wait staff do there jobs and do them well. The salsa is great as is the food. Ask for the warmed salsa but be careful if you don’t like it hot.
Great place for San Angelo Style. Food and service is always good. This is the traditional San Angelo Texas style of Mexican cuisine. Not frilly, not yuppy, but just plain delicious. Authentic San Angelo Tex/Mex atmosphere and authentic San Angelo style Mexican food. The prices are great! The hot sauce is always great, but sometimes too hot and sometimes just right.
Salsa was somewhat spicy, which was actually nice. Waitress insisted on using Spanish even after we gave her a blank stare (heard her speak English later). Food wasn’t very good.
