I am surprised by how bad the reviews are for this place. I had a great experience with service, the bartender made a great manhattan cocktail, and the food was delicious. I ordered the carpetbagger steak cooked medium and was totally satisfied. Also get the baklava cheesecake, it’s Christmas in your mouth.
Here in San Angelo visiting my son at Goodfellow AFB for Thanksgiving. Found from the Chamber of Commerce this was an option for Thanksgiving meal. Service was great, staff was friendly but the food just wasn’t good. Then we got the bill – $84 for 3 people (just the buffet with standard soft drink – no extras). The prime rib and turkey was yummy and the sweet potato casserole was okay but nothing else. The stuffing was crumbly and dry, potatoes were lumpy – I know we aren’t home so all this could have been tolerable…but for the price? I could have just headed for a chain restaurant and gotten the same standard for much less. Atmosphere was fun but don’t go for the food 🙁
This place is awful, plain and simple. Stay away.
A must visit for historic San Angelo. However the food is nasty and overpriced. Maybe go for tea?
Great steaks and apple pie! However, only one waiter for nine tables, from two to six diners each. No hostess. Good food if you have the time.
Twice burned… I have tried it twice in the last 9 months and both times have been a major disspointment in service and food taste and quality. Brenda, what’s the deal. Wonderful venue, terrible dining experience. Cold food, long waits, no tea refills. Get it back on track. I no longer take out of town guest to Miss Hattie’s for fear of history repeating itself…
The food is pretty good and the prices are comparable to other area restaurants. The Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad is yum, as are any of the burgers. The service is not out of this world but not the worst either. Really dig the decor, nice atmosphere.
