For a seafood place Red Lobster has an excellent recipe for margaritas. We order the one that has the Grand Marnier on the side. We pour the grand marnier into the margarita and it is sooooo good. Of course the seafood is delicious. Service is very good and we go for the trout and lobster.
Another busy family night with our party of seven adults. Restaurant wasn’t crowded but appeared to have several large parties waiting for tables. We were lucky that some in our group had arrived early so we had a very short wait for our table. The menu is extensive and rather confusing with desserts and bar items in the center, many more offerings than we remembered with lots of new entrees such as grilled shrimp skewers, crab cakes and combinations. We ordered two appetizers: lobster dip and chips plus calamari. After approximately 20 minutes the appetizers arrived….lobster dip was a gloppy chunky mess with a strong broccoli flavor. The calamari was crunchy and fresh, the squid rings piled high along with fried broccoli and red pepper strips. It was delicious and my favorite part of the meal.Salads were just ok, my partner’s Caesar had wilted lettuce as did my garden salad with tasteless Ranch dressing. The famous Cheddar Bay Garlic Cheese biscuits were ok but not as tender or fresh as I remembered. Entrees were a long time in coming, over an hour after we ordered. My Ultimate Feast with lobster, crab legs, shrimp scampi and fried shrimp was a lot of food. The lobster tasted fine but alas it’s a small warm water lobster tail, sweet but not as good as the cold water Maine lobsters. The crab legs were ok but not fresh, hard to eat without making a mess! Shrimp were all overcooked and rubbery. My side of broccoli looked fresh but had an off taste like it had been in the refrigerator too long. My partner had grilled shrimp with asparagus but the vegetable was tasteless and overcooked along with the shrimp.Service was very slow and a bit confused, our waiter mixed up a couple of orders, brought an extra salad and forgot a dessert order. Our total for two appetizers, two entrees, one beer and a soft drink was $90.52 with tip. We probably will not be back anytime soon, better, less expensive places for good seafood in the area.
Good ….but not the best….. How come the commercials for Red Lobster look so much better than the actual food when you get here. The shrimp., baked potatoes, are all good….just mass produced with no individual character. We like it, but not many choices for seafood seafood in the Alamo City.
Overall good, border line mediocre. The fish was hot and well seasoned. The sides not so much. They have the worst Caesar Salad in San Antonio.
