Not sure what is with all the hate in some of the reviews here, but this is a solid ‘cue stand. We went on a Sunday at 2:30pm and there was a sign on the door that said any orders after 2:45 had to be to go. Not a problem, I understand they want to go home. I asked if we could still our food to eat in, since it was getting close to the cutoff time, and was told no problem, so not sure where the negative service issues are coming from either. At any rate the meat was outstanding, sauce was good, and huge surprise the sides were all great. Price was a little high, but only slightly, and the quality of the food far exceeded the slightly higher price. Good BBQ is time consuming and rarely do you find cheap good BBQ. Yes there is cheap BBQ but it certainly doesn’t taste like what they serve here. Again this is very well smoked meat that could easily be eaten without the sauce, but the sauce is so good it is worth using a little. I’ve just started smoking meat and not sure how they are able make their pulled pork as juicy and smokey as they do, but they have mastered it. I’m guessing this is why they have numerous trophies for their BBQ.The bun also seemed to be more of a bakery style bun that is slightly sweeter than your standard white grocery store bun out of the plastic bag. Again this shows their attention to the details. About the only thing this place is missing is some home cooked pies that are made daily by a friend of their grandmother. That would probably be the only improvement they could make and put them on the legendary scale, as that is the holy grail of a BBQ stand, great meats, great sides and home made deserts, which are generally made by three different people because of the varied skills required. The jalapeno corn souffle should really be called cornbread, even though it is much lighter than cornbread and although is more like a souffle should be called cornbread so you will be more likely to order it. My wife didn’t simply because the name scared her off, and after trying mine wished she had ordered itAll and all a great place in Sherman, nothing fancy, am guessing an old Taco Bell run by some people that really do know how to smoke meats. And yes as mentioned before there is a huge smoker in the back of the shack, and not sure where the Diner from Dennison didn’t see or smell the smoker as he arrived, as I did, and it was less than a half an hour from closing.
I tried it twice. Twice was enough. The pulled pork was dry and flavorless and the same goes for the ribs. It is a sad thing when you can get better BBQ from a large chain that ships there food in precooked.
