Long time fan. Try the fried shrimp salad. A great salad, with fried shrimp on the top — I eat the shrimp first, of course! A great value and avoids the fried potatoes. After all, I’m already eating fried shrimp. I’ve been eating here for years (since it first opened in its previous location)! Some people think that it isn’t as good as it used to be, and certainly the prices have gradually risen. But it is still a great price for great shrimp. I eat here whenever I am in the area!

Can’t say that I liked it or didn’t…I have mixed reviews based on what we ordered. I ordered the Bayou which was excellent! The fish was cooked perfectly & not dry while the crawfish touffe on top was flavorful and had a hint of spice that put an edge over the dish. The portion was pretty big as well. I ordered the blackened fish for my son who loved it & it too was not overcooked & flavorful. I also orders the red beans and rice which could have used a little salt which was surprising because everything else was pretty flavorful. My husband had the shrimp gumbo & it barely had any shrimp in it. He searched high & low but only found about 2 shrimps in the entire gumbo. The flavor of the gumbo wasnt anything to be excited about but we’d definitely come back for the fish! Order the Bayou, you won’t be disappointed!

They had good service, it is a chill family oriented place. I recomend the crab cakes and Margarita.

Disappointed. Tried to take the family out for my wife’s bday dinner and was not happy. Went on a Tuesday and there was no crowd, which was fine, the place was neat, but there was some live karaoke singer guy who was really bad and ruined the atmosphere. The server was good and friendly. Was really hoping the seafood would be better considering its right on the gulf. Prices were higher than I would of paid for the lack of quality.

Very disappointing! The restaurant was very unorganized and unprofessional. Had to ask for everything (napkins, butter for crab legs, cracking utensils…etc.). Water did not taste very good at all. I ordered seafood jambalaya and was very disappointed. I’ve had much better for much less. Staff was very polite but their English was sketchy at best. Would not return or recommend to a friend.

Didn’t Bother Getting Seated. I know, this is only a pre-review. While waiting to be seated we looked over the menu. (When walking in we saw a pile of tilapia (note – not a native Texas fish) in the cold case. This will become relevant in a second.)There was a section of basic seafood dishes that were reasonably priced. At the bottom of the list was a note that for $5 more you could get fresh fish. If you didn’t notice that, you would get the defrosted tilapia! First of all, why serve frozen imported fish on SPI? Second, really! Charge extra for fresh? That should be the default. Have a separate box that clearly states ‘for the budget minded’ for the tilapia dishes. We didn’t bother staying and went to Blackbeard’s instead. See my review.

Very very good food! You won’t go wrong by picking this restaurant. Came in with high hopes and left very happy; we had a party of 8 with everyone picki g something different; all where very pleased! Make sure you dine here while at SPI.
