My husband, son and I went there to celebrate an early fathers day dinner which ended up being a disaster. We ordered the fresh spring rolls, the chicken vermicelli bowl, 2 specialty soups and 2 Vietnamese coffees. The fresh spring rolls were filled with old iceberg lettuce, vermicelli and 2 shrimp that smelt and looked very spoiled. My chicken vermicelli bowl was equally disgusting with hard, old pieces of chicken that also smelt and tasted bad. Not wanting to ruin the evening, I simply decided not to eat my dinner and not complain. My 15-year-old son, in his honest and innocent way, told me that I should complain and talk to the owners. I thought he was right in wanting us to do the right thing.I got up to ask for the bill (mind you, there was no one else in the restaurant at 6pm on a Friday night) since the female owner who was waiting on us hadnt been by once to check on us, and had no idea we were ready to leave. I decided to tell her very politely about the spoiled food and she immediately became highly defensive, agitated and contentious raising her voice at me and telling me that this was a lie and how no one had ever complained about their food. I calmly explained to her that I was in fact a public health doctor and how I had good reason to suspect the food was spoiled and willing to contact the local health department to inform them of my suspicions. She continued arguing and I walked back to the table. When she finally brought us the bill, I realized that she had not removed the food I had not eaten from the bill. I questioned this and told her I was not going to pay for the food I was returning. We were immediately confronted with a barrage of insults and threats that she was going to call the cops on me. Her husband who was sitting behind the counter soon chimed in and started yelling insults at me saying, you not a doctor, you a fake doctor, my food not spoiled, you a spoiled woman, I hope I never see you ever again, etc. We did not say a word, yet I stuck to my guns and ethically gave them $30 even when the total bill was $37.88. not even removing the full amount of one of the dishes I had returned. The male and female owners pulled out their phones and started filming us.The owners of this restaurant do NOT behave or provide service like a friendly mom and pop business. They are rude, HIGHLY and scarily aggressive and their food looks, smells and tastes very spoiled. We also took pictures of the un-eaten food. Its too early to know as I write this review, but I hope and pray we do not get sick. We will, however, be calling the local health department and feel it our duty to warn future patrons by sharing this awful experience. It is no wonder that there were no other people in that establishment during peak dinner time on a Friday evening!
Very friendly, family owned Vietnamese noodle shop. Prices are very reasonable and you get a lot for what you pay for. Highly recommended when you’re hungry for Pho or Bun.
Banh Mi is very very delish! I even like it better than Cali’s…which says a lot since my husband and I have been Cali regulars for 6+ yrs!The owner is extremely friendly, which makes the place very welcoming :)Try the meatless ham banh mi! My vegetarian hubbie loved it! The pork and chicken is pretty d@mn tasty too! Ohhhh and the Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) is the BEST I have had…and trust me, my husband and I eat Vietnamese food at least once a week!!!
