Not bad, the tables are very small unless you get a booth. Service was quick but it’s not the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. The batter seemed to be lacking in flavor and would fall off the steak easily. You do get a lot of food for your money though. I wouldn’t go out of my way again to come here but it’s better than a chain restaurant.

Service-5* The waitress did a fantastic job, the food came out timely and our drinks were always full.Food-3* Food ordered: Appetizer-Fried Mushrooms with Ranch, Main-Chicken fried chicken with macaroni. Main-Fried shrimp with macaroni, baked potato, and ceasar salad. Roll with white gravyFried Mushrooms: The portion size was large probably large enough to fill two grown men. The mushrooms were large in size and bland in taste. The mushroom did not have the juicy pop that I like in fried mushrooms also the mushroom didnt have a flavor to them. The ranch was decent but did no favors for the mushrooms.Chicken Fried Chicken- Again the portion was Texas sized. Large enough to fill a normal person twice. The fried batter was bland but on the bright side it was perfectly crusted (not to thick not too thin). The chicken underneath was thin and was not juicy without any noticable flavor. I had mine with white gravy. The gravy is fantastic and did help the food tremendously. Macaroni and Cheese-The protion was average (small restaurants side bowl)The consistency of the mac and cheese was on point the only thing lacking was the cheesy flavor. Looks good but has much to be desired on flavor.Fried shimp- The protion was about 10 butterflied shimp, which was good for the price. The fried crust was again lacking any distinct flavor. The shrimp was a good size and the shrimp underneath was good. I ate this with cocktail sauce, which was normal in taste.Ceasar salad- This came out before the meal which is great. The salad looked great and was built with all you would expect from a ceasar. The dressing tasted watered down. Overall good but nothing to brag about.Baked potato- Average sized potato, comes with the fixings on the side. The potato was soft and cooked well. The bacon bits were thick chunks of shredded bacon and was really good. The baked potato was my favorite item along with the roll and the white gravy. Rolls- Each of the meals come with rolls and white gravy. Mine came with two. The roll is large and soft and is home made. The roll has a buttery tasting top and a warm soft center. They come with butter and white gravy. The roll is one of Goodsons best items.White Gravy- Its good gravy and there is plenty of it. Price- Based on shear portion size I would say that Goodsons is really reasonable. Overall-3* – The protions are large and the home town service is fantastic. The food leaves a lot to be desired(Especially with all the hype) I cannot say they are even close the best place in Tomball. I think this place may have been good at one time but somthing happend to this place along the way(Maybe fame, hype or large growth) either way at this point I think they are too comfortable and will not change. About me- I’ve lived in Tomball for 4 years or so and I love eating at restaurants. I did not write this review out of hate or jealousy, I wrote this to be completely honest about my thoughts.
