Springhill Racism. My mother who is African American, used to work at Springhill restaurant as waitstaff for several years. It was not until my father, who is white, visited her at work and brought her flowers. After seeing that my mother was in an interracial marriage, a coworker called her the very offensive N-word. Management did nothing, my mom ended up quitting. This place has always left a bad taste in my mouth.

Race Relations. Reply To the hispanic and asian couple who didn’t get fair service as they reported.I AM a Beautiful Senior African-American Woman,dresses very classy. I can smell racism a mile off and yes pflugerville like Austin and other towns in Texas have their quota of racist, But my daughter and I visit and love the food, The food was hot, clean, good tasting, and the service was excellent. I enjoyed the home cooked taste and the old school decor. We thought the prices were fine and I loved the fried green tomatoes. We have sent others to eat there and no one had a complaint. Maybe you got a waitress from hell, but don’t blame the entire establishment. Good Food!
Bad food , bad service. Springhill in Pville used to be great. I moved away for 4 years and came back and was so excited to take my boyfriend for what I thought would be a great catfish dinner. I was very disappointed in the quality and the customer service we were given. The catfish had a distinct muddy taste to it and the waitress did not once come by and ask how the food was or if we wanted refills on our drinks. The only time she came by was to put our bill on the table. We noticed that she did provide good service to our surrounding tables though who happended to be middle classed white families. My boyfriend is hispanic and I am of asian decent and unfortunately sad to say I do believe racism is alive and well in Pflugerville still in 2011. We won’t be coming back and will make sure to let everyone know about our experience.
They may be known for their catfish, but the chicken fried steak is as close to what mama makes!! It’s worth the drive and a great atmosphere to boot! Cozy, just like home! 🙂
Whole catfish. If you don’t mind the bones, get the whole fried catfish, it is delicious. The also have fillets of course, and great hush puppies.
It’s a great family restaurant. A nice relaxed enviroment. The portion sizes are a nice.
