If I am going to really dig deep into the wallet for a meal in Tyler, this is the place I choose. Reservations get you seated in my experience. Food is always really good, and you don’t have to own an oil well to feel comfortable. If you are lucky enough to get a table in the darker more private areas, it is a very intimate experience. I’m a guy that considers Roadhouse a nice place, so this is a rare venture, but I have never been sorry for reaching a little deeper into the wallet.
Wow these reviews are crazy. I had already posted a review before I had read some of the others.. I want to say my husband and I called on a Wednesday and made a reservation, as you do for most fine dinning establishment’s… I am originally from Naples, Florida and am used to eating at fine dining restaurants.. In the 12 yrs I have lived here in Texas I have never had such amazing food.. The escargot was to die for.. my husband had never had it before and was in love so we ordered 2 orders.. We also had the stuffed mushroom and you could taste the sweet flavor of King crab.. was amazing.. I had a bottle of wine and couldn’t even pour my own glass because the owner and stuff we’re always right there.. my husband had the veal and it was also out of this world.. and my filet was outstanding.. This is a romantic place… The service was amazing.. best I have had in East Tx.. I am not sure what..or why they have bad reviews at all.. I must say on behalf of my husband and I we are so happy we tried and plan on going as much as possible..06 Nov, 2014Best Restaurant in East Texas. My husband and I just recently ate here.. Food was mediocre. Service horrible. I ordered to go, but they were not to friendly about this choice.

Not good services or food. My wife and I decided to eat there. Took them 20 mins just to get our drinks. We both order the filet and it was over cooked and had no flavor. The server acted rude and snobby. I won’t be going back
Wonderful!. Bernard and his staff have always been one of the best in this area. Good wine selection, fish specialties are well prepared and presented. I really need to go more often, they are my favorite in town.
I’ve been eating at Bernard’s for years. The food is ALWAYS excellent as is the service and atmosphere. Hands down, the best food in the Tyler area and not overly expensive. EXCELLENT!!
