DOLLAR TACO’S!!!! Love Don Juan’s! Authentic Mexican food, and cheap. Rice is the best I’ve ever had!
Great!. Great authentic Mexican & inexpensive. Try the chilaquilas! If you want Tex-Mex in Tyler there are plenty of neon lit places. Want something else, come here!
Well, i liked the painted chairs. And the water was okay. The tortilla chips were stale, the chile relleno was, well, like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and the beans and rice were fine (but that shouldn’t count- really? Beans and rice?)
TexMex?. After being out of Texas for 8 months, I was eager to enjoy authentic TexMex during my first night back. Apparently TexMex cuisine has changed or I was not far enough south. Food was OK but not what we expected.I had Enchilada’s Verde, wife had Flautas. Verde was lacking sufficient sauce, cheese on top was not melted at all. Flautas tasted as if they where the frozen variety from Sam’s. Flour tortillas where not made on site.Perhaps I should have left when they told me, they had no liquor license so I could not enjoy a margarita.Would I come back to this location? NO!
What happened? Used to come here in my early years, but now it seems they lost a little bit of their touch. Ordered the Don Juan, steak with 2 enchiladas w/beans and rice. The majority of the plate was rice, I guess they had a shortage of refried beans. The steak sad to say was mainly grizzle, and not enough meat. When it was time to leave, I guess our waitress was more interested on being paid and ending her shift. We never saw her return to ask if we needed anything else or checked for refills. I finally saw her as I decided to just go up to the cashier and pay without our check… she was outside getting into a friends car leaving with a big smile on her face. Left tip for table cleaner and the cashier apologized for what happened, and I thanked her for her consideration. I don’t think I’ll be returning soon to this authentic mexican restaurant anytime soon or in the future. I hope they do improve, it has been a great restaurant in the past years and I wish for it to be there later in the years.
Good Stuff!!. I have been to Don Juan’s a few times now, and not once have I been disappointed. The food is tasty and fresh. The servers, though young, do a great job. Prices are very affordable! Good parking. I’m going again tonight!
Hands down the BEST mexican food restaurant in East Texas. Being from San Antonio, found it difficult to enjoy mexican food until I found Don Juan’s.
