Red and green sauces were excellent. Plenty of spice. Had the Don Juan plate. Very very good and under $10! Highly recommend. Parking around the square sucks on a Saturday night.

Definitely on the list of regular places to eat here, I’d say we eat at Don Juans on the square once a week. We like to go Wednesdays for dollar tacos, and the pork Guisado, another Wednesday special, is quite good. There are a couple aspects of this place that drive me crazy, but like someone who’s become a good friend, I find the overall quality of their company outweighs the annoying quirks. 1. The quality of the meat shifts, from excellent to gristle-fest from dish to dish. 2. When they are on, they are spot on in terms of service. We usually try to sit in a section of someone we know, but we occasionally get someone else. When the service is in one of those spotty times, you may find yourself waiting. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does…Also, look for the signature dishes, they are the true strength of this place. The standard fare tastes pretty much like everywhere else, but the Don Juan specials are remarkable. And that’s why we keep going back.

HOT PLATE!!!. Don’t worry about that here! The atmosphere is festive, the people are friendly and the food is good. BUT, the food is NOT HOT…………………!We were there on a Saturday during the peak time and the place was full of diners. I understand that food has to be prepared in advance but who wants barely warm enchiladas, rice and beans? I guess most Tylerites because they keep coming back. I am a twice a month semi-regular but I will give it a few months before I return to see if the temperature of the food improves.

Decent cheap Mexican food, great daily specials, queso dip made with real cheese (no velveta in this joint). Not open for the late night crowd. Try to hit it midday when it’s mostly empty due to end of lunch rush and before dinner rush: service is more attentive and fewer chances of screaming children that frequent dollar taco Wednesday’s. Cheap drinks. Great for casual night out.

The BEST in town. Great real Mexican food with great prices. Try their new DJ’s Marisco also on Erwin.

Great Authentic Mexican. Great authentic Mexican food at cheap prices. Daily lunch specials are the best, and I love the fajitas! The red and green salsas are very tasty!

NOT Tex-Mex. This is not Tex-Mex food. (Try El Charro’s for that.) This is truly Mexican food. You won’t find yellow American cheese spread over everything.
