Best Authentic Italian Food in Texas. We regularly attend Portofinos because of the great food and service. Their food is homemade and tastes like the Italian food you get in New York. I see some of the reviews here that are saying that the service was bad. Most of those cases seem to be when this place first opened when they were short staffed. It’s not always easy finding a good waiting staff. But they’re sure doing a great job now! Best pizza you’ll ever eat too!

Excellent Dishes. Group of four adults who tried a range of dishes on a Friday night. Waitress was attentive and had everyone smiling. Food might not arrive as quickly as Olive Garden but the quality and flavors are far above that cookie cutter, chain restaurant. Besides, our group was enjoying a night of conversation and didn’t notice the wait. Everyone enjoyed their food and we all plan to return soon.Be a little adventurous here and try a Sorrentina, Saltinbucca dish or the Chicken Scar Pella I so enjoyed.

Service. Very poor service and food was too long in being brought to our table.

Terrific food !. My family and I came in to eat the other night ! Great food ! We ordered a chicken dish and spag meatballs and meals for the kids . Fantastic night out to try a new place very busy . Kinda loud but that’s what happens when a place is very busy with great food ! I now promote this place happy I came in ! We even got to meet the chef very cool, Anthony Rocks that place ! I give it up to him. The chef is what it’s about great food ! Be back soon to eat . Every one go eat here !!!!

Very Bad Experience. I was in the group whose advance reservation was cancelled causing us to have to sit in the bar. It was too noisy and we left. The owner did not like the fact that we had a Confederate battle flag sitting on our table. He told other people in the restaurant we were creating a disturbance which caused three tables of customers to leave. We know what he said because he was talking to friends of ours who happened to be there, too. The service was also very poor. After 30 minutes, we had only been hserved bread and drinks. None of the waiters even offered to take our meal orders.

Poor Service. Recently my organization reserved the back room here to hold a scheduled meeting. Upon our arrival, we found that the room had been given to another group and we had to settle for several tables in the Bar area pushed together. We attempted to conduct our meeting, but the noise level made this impossible. The service was also very slow and after an extended wait, just to get drinks, we decided to take our business to another restaurant.I cannot comment on the food because I was unable to try it, but the poor service was enough to lose my business permanently.

My husband and I regularly dine at the restaurant once or twice a week. We find the food to be excellent, the quality and quantity are perfect. The owners Bennie and Julie are absolutely delightful. We moved into the Tyler area about six months ago and were eager to try the local restaurants. When we found PORTOFINO’S in October 2014 we were elated, we had tried Little Italy but never returned. We were faithful Olive Garden customers but also have not returned since finding this wonderful restaurant. The waitstaff provide impeccable service. Early on we met both Bennie and Julie while having lunch, initially just to rave about the food. We found them to be the most gracious and delightfully pleasant owners that we have ever met. We told them how much we enjoyed their food and asked them if we could have some brochures to pass around to our friends and family. The lunch specials run $7.99 dinner specials are $9.99 there are a multitude of choices. I order Spaghetti with Meatballs and Meat sauce. (The Meatballs are the size of baseballs) my husband enjoys the Angel Hair Pasta with Italian Sausage. Everyp time we are at the restaurant we ask for more brochures…..need I say more?? The local magazines have printed wonderful articles on the restaurant and one of our local TV Channels have interviewed them as well. Bennie’s brother owns Fino’s Italian Restaurant in Plano, Tx. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Tyler. The ambiance is wonderful, the decor is beautifully appointed. You will find businessmen in suit coats and ties, women in business attire as well as the locals who are casually dressed. Treat yourself and your family for either lunch or dinner, you won’t be disappointed !!!
