I tried Spring Creek on a Sunday night because they were the only BBQ joint open. After reading the previous reviews I had reservations about trying it but I kept an open mind and I’m glad I did. I went for the two meat plate of brisket and black pepper sausage, and rounded it out with mac and cheese and green beans. Both meats were absolutely succulent. The brisket had a beautiful ring and bark and it absolutely melted in my mouth. The black pepper gave the sausage a nice kick and both sides were pretty darn tasty. The green beans were exactly like what I grew up with; full of bacon and onion. As another reviewer mentioned, the mac and cheese did seem velveeta-ish but it was still pretty good. Looking back at the other reviews it’s been a while since anyone has written anything about the place so perhaps they’ve changed some things for the better. I’ll certainly be back on future trips through Tyler.
The problem with a main strip location is you better be good.. Passed by several times before finally stopping in and having a sample. To me, barbecue is all about the spare ribs and this place would be well served to learn to to do them right. Awful, just awful, dry. Very reminiscent of the experience I had at Neely’s Interstate in Memphis. The missus had brisket and it was dry as a bone and tough. A prime location such as this could be a legend if they knew their stuff, sadly, this place hasn’t got a clue and charges way too much on top of it. What made this an even more dismal experience was the smug attitude of the staff. I mean seriously, if you’re going to act like you’ve got the best barbecue in Texas your goods better deliver and what Spring Creek serves doesn’t.
Barbeque is dry and way overpriced. Staff leaves slot to be desired
For a BBQ place their meat is really awful. It’s dry & crusty. the only good food they have here are the hot rolls but the service is so terrible that you can hardly get a sever to bring any rolls to your table. Don’t waste your money or your time at this sad excuse for a restaurant.
Dry is an understatement. The brisket they serve is so dry that you are required to slather it in their hum drum bbq just so it will slide down your throat. Terrible. If you are looking for BBQ, look elsewhere. Stanley’s/Rudy’s anywhere but here.
So dry….My family couldn’t eat. This is by far one of the worst places for BBQ my family and I have ever had. It was so dry and the meat was so hard my parents just got up and left. I was so embarrassed because they were visiting from out of town.
Very good brisket. Sides (serve yourself) also good. Fresh hot rolls regularly brought to your table. We are up here from Houston on business, and will be coming back here on our return trips.
