All the hype is correct. The meat is so flavorful and tender. I absolutely can not recommend the Frito pie dish enough. So filling and delicious. This place gets very very busy so expect a wait but it will be worth it. Sides are well paired as well – no complaints from my visit.

This is by far my favorite restaurant. This is where I take people when they come in from out of town and want to experience Texas cuisine. The mother clucker sandwich is addicting and perfect. I would highly recommend this place to anybody.

We stopped in Tyler just to try this place after we read the reviews. It didnt disappoint. Its small on the inside, most of the seating is outside. Staff was very friendly. We ordered a meat sampler with a side of coleslaw for us and the little kiddo. Big kiddo got a chopped brisket sandwich. The sampler came with 2 ribs, pulled pork, sliced brisket, and smoked sausage. The sausage was good. Peppery, with a good snap on the skin. Hubs and I thought it was average. I liked the pulled pork. Tender, good flavor, didnt really need any bbq sauce. It was my second favorite item on the sampler. The sliced brisket was super tender, hard to pick up with a fork, the way we think brisket should be. It also had a nice thick super tasty bark, so no need for bbq sauce there either. The brisket was Hubs second favorite. The ribs were, hands down, the best… ever… Hubs and I agree, if we were going to order again, wed just get the ribs. Fall of the bone tender. I so loved that sweet whatever they put on those ribs. Flavor was amazing. Perfection! The brisket sandwich (regular size) was loaded with brisket. I cant imagine what the big one looks like.Hubs wasnt big on the coleslaw. I thought it was amazing, and Im pretty picky when it comes to slaw. It wasnt anything like traditional slaw. It had cilantro in it (I love cilantro) It was just a little sweet, and very fresh tasting. Little kiddo ate it up too. When we come back thru, I will be getting 2 sides of coleslaw for myself. The regular bbq sauce was ok. Honestly I didnt use much. Hubs raved about the hot (it wasnt sweet enough for me but I didnt think the meat needed sauce anyway). We almost bought a bottle on the way out.Over all, we will definitely visit Stanleys again when we find ourselves in east Texas. Get the ribs…
