Surprise! Fantastic great food great music too..lucky to find a table this weekend our new fab.great job ladies
Great Food. I’ve been coming here for about 20 years off and on (they move location from time to time so I can’t always find them). I normally order the POT LUCK, its a little of everything, and the potato soup. Its enough food for three normal people or two really hungry people. My ex-wife grew up in Austria and my current girlfriend is from Russia, but she’s spent alot of time in Germany. According to them the food is very authentic. I’ve never had a bad meal from here and the Beer is always fresh.
We tried the split pea soup and jaeger schnitzel, and after seeing other reviews on this place, I was surpriced. I’m from Northern Europe, and my grandmother would have cooked like this. It is way better than any of the German restaurants in the Houston area.
My daughter & her family drove in for the Easter holiday weekend from Florida, we were all very hungry & were looking forward to a wonderful meal & catching up. Since we (my daughter & myself) lived in Germany for 8 years we decided to try Alpine Brauhaus… Big mistake. The food was very over priced, bland, tasteless & I certainly wouldn’t call it authentic German food, frankly, I’m not sure what it was. My Rahmschnitzel was tough & the sauce looked like a jar of Alfredo sauce was poured over it….I couldn’t taste white wine in my sauce, it was void of mushrooms & even paprika or any hint if flavor. The greenbeans were out of a can. The Spaetzel noodles were a funny color & again, void if any flavor. My daughter ordered Jaeger Schnitzel can be described as no flavor, dry & once again, the sauce looked & tasted as it came from a jar. The bread brought to the Tavel smelled as though it was old. I will say the restaurant is clean & nicely decorated. I should have turned around & left when we drove up & saw there were plenty of parking spots, & as we walked in the two employees there were eating & looked at us as though we were intruding. We did tell our wait person that we didn’t like the food & she just kind of srugged & didn’t have a reply. I’m a big foodie & I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will pass it by as fast as I drove on the autobahn!
This German food is not even suitable to serve to a German Shepard. Maybe when the owners first opened this place in 1965 (the location has moved several times) they remembered what real German food is supposed to taste like, but unfortunately now it’s a far cry from authentic or even edible. Wait staff seemed they would be more at home in a Luby’s than a place that charges around $20 a plate. The food was bland, did not taste fresh, the schnitzel was too thick with a terrible coarse breading and was not fried up properly, spatzle was a travesty drenched in olive oil of all things to the point of being inedible, sausages were mediocre at best and everything was WAY overpriced. One high point was they have a selection of German beers that were pretty good. I was looking forward to a good meal and was very disappointed. Will not be returning.
Tough Schnitzel & Canned Green Beans. This was an expensive meal considering we were served tough veal and canned green beans. The beer was good as was the accordion player. For some unknown reason this place has a following.
Meh….. It’s just barely average. It’s stuck in a strip-mall next to comcast and a hobby shop. It’s location is difficult to notice and it’s food difficult to enjoy.
