A solid sub for a solid price. $10 for a large, which most normal people would only eat 1/2 of. I was going to order the special, but the employee there today suggested the Italian. Good move! The peppers and onions were on point. The fact that this place has Zapps chips already gives them points in my book. One point of contention. The bread I had today was nothing extraordinary. Not bad by any means, but nothing life changing like other reviews seemed to believe.

Dude…dude…dude. Okay, now that I’ve calmed down from just thinking about that heaven sent sub, lemme esplain. There are good subs, great, subs, and then…epic subs. What makes a sub epic? Is it the fresh bread and fillings? Is it the quality of said ingredients? Yes, and one more element. The unexplainable. These subs are epic. Unexplainable. You must taste to truly know. You must be a sandwich connoisseur. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

A friend recommended this little place to me. I was en route back to Houston and grabbed a sampling of their subs to share with a buddy. We both agreed that they were excellent. Good value. Bread was good. All in all, a place that I would gladly go back to. Here is a photo of the typical sub from them. Chatting with the staff, they confirmed that they roast their own beef. They actually do it in one of those Otis Spunkmeyer cookie ovens like one sees at convenience stores. Turns out, the temperature is just right, and the size is just right for them to roast their beef and pork in. Who knew?Update – July 2015. A second visit. This time, just ‘the regular…large’. The combination of meats, bread, vinegar dressing, hot chillies was almost a religious experience. I had ordered the large with the intention of eating half. But like some trained rat being given something irresistible, something that it couldn’t stop eating, I ended up consuming the entire sandwich. Guiltily. I met some other diners who tole me the one to go for was the cheese steal sandwich. And seeing theirs, I know that there will soon be another visit to Antonini’s. thefriedchickenblog.blogspot.com

I am not exaggerating when I say that these are the best Italian subs I have ever had. They are huge, very fresh and delicious. Holding one of these subs makes me feel like a lion holding a gazelle…

Awesome! The subs are huge! My husband got the large Italian and I got the small turkey both were delicious.

Best subs in clear lake. Moved here from DC last year and lucky to find great Italian hoagies at this little hole in the wall. No atmosphere, just great subs. I’m getting hungry writing this and I just ate lunch.

Great Sub but…. The choice of bread is really poor. The owner is from Delaware, Dover I’d guess from the posters on the wall, and the Delmarva peninsula is one of the epicenters of great sub cultures back East. These are the best subs in the whole area but the bread choice is disappointing. There’s no description on the menu of this very plain-jane-hole-in-the-wall but I think the meats on the Italian are capicola (spiced ham), prosciuttini (peppered ham), Genoa salami and provolone, and the toppings include a great pepper relish. It’s a huge sandwich for the price.I was there recently for lunch and the place was packed and much to my surprise, most people were having a burger. I’d have to admit it looked pretty good but if I’m driving all that way, I’m going for the house specialty.
