The food here is great, they’re open late, and I love that I have to practice my Spanish. The only tiny ding keeping them from getting a 5 is that the menu doesn’t have a ton of items on it. But you won’t be disappointed with any of them.
This place was amazing. I’ve never had Guatamalan food before so I wasn’t sure who I would like it, but it was so good. The waiter had pictures on his phone of everything so we could pick what to get. We got 2 appetizers and we each got a meal and seriously everything was delicious. We thought we would owe a lot since we ordered way too much food but it was less than $30 and that included 2 apps! Definitely would come again.
Pros: Very good food at a great price! The owner gave us suggestions on what would be unique, especially compared to our usual Tex-Mex dining, and we could not have been happier with our selections. He had pictures of all the dishes on his phone, which helped our understanding of what we were getting. Dishes were spiced well and all sides were homemade. We left feeling like we had eaten something really different. Cons: No ambiance whatsoever. (Put up a few posters, artwork, anything that is distinctive to Guatemala!) Water is not a drink option. No beer/wine. We’ll be back! We’re loving the Central and South American influx of restaurants in the Clear Lake/League City area. There is a Peruvian place in League City, an El Salvadoran place in Webster, and Atitlan in Clear Lake.
Yum. Great food for an excellent value. The ribeye steak with black beans, rice and potato salad plus an appetizer and coke was $ 12.61
Delicious and Different. Atitlan is a family run Guatemalan restaurant with simple decor and delicious, reasonably priced food. Everything is made from scratch. The menu is written 100% in Spanish, but don’t let that intimidate you, because the owner will enthusiastically answer all your questions and help you select your food. The chicken dishes are excellent. Give Atitlan a try if you want to eat something other than greasy, cheese-smothered Tex-Mex. We loved it, and I think you will too. I cant wait to go back!
