Food’s not so good. I went in with the anticipation that finally San Antonio had a great Chinese restaurant. Coming from New York I have been on the search for great Chinese food. Unfortunately the food did not score so big here. Their fried rice had no flavor, and like a a pinch of peas and carrots. Their egg foo young gravy was runny, there chicken wings did not have a crisp, their shrimp with lobster sauce was not exceptional and they did not get my order right. Not getting an order right…ok it happens I get that. But when the food is terrible it adds for the worst. The lady that rung me up was extremely nice though. I don’t recommend this place.
Horrible. This will never happen again! Got Pad Thai and Singapore noodles. They were both awful and extremely over priced. I guess thats why it was empty!
Very Rude Cashier/Mgr!!. The food is very good and the waitstaff is excellent. However, the older man who is usually the cashier, (probably the owner/manager) is so rude! I ate there with friends, and ordered the special to go. When I went to pay instead of $4.99 it was $6.99. When I asked he said that is only dine in. I told him with a smile…that isn’t fair! And he said, IT FAIR…explaining that he has to pay for the containers. I told him other places charge .25 for a container. I also told him he didn’t have to be so grouchy and he said it was ok. I told him, no…that is why when you look the business up on the Internet it says there is a rude manager and that could be bad for business! Will I go back…? I like the food, but I’m thinking not!
Different tastes. This place has the best Hot and Sour soup of any Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. I’ve been following this chef and his recipe from China Moon, to House of Joy and now to House of China. It’s simply delicious, I don’t find it sweet at all, and it is light and tasty, much different from the dark brown, too thick Hot and Sour soups at other restaurants. The food is ok, there are some places with better food, and the manager is kind of like Seinfelds Soup Nazi.. you just have to get to know him! I’m a happy regular here. My usual dish is the Chicken with Garlic Sauce, It is very good.
If you don’t mind being humiliated. We stopped there after seeing a huge sign saying they had Lunch and Dinner specials for $4.99 and $6.99 everyday. We had 3 toddlers in the car 2 of which were napping, so we quickly ran in and grabbed a menu and then went back in to order. We did not see any lunch special listed on the menu so we asked about which items were on the special and how it worked, as everything on the menu was priced considerably higher. The man at the counter was very rude and began yelling at us making a huge scene in front of all the guests telling us that if we wanted a cheap price we had to eat in and said no special on to go orders. Then handed me the daily special list which had very unappetizing items on it and said if we wanted cheap food we had to eat in. It was quite embarrassing as we had no issues with money simply asked a question. Not the most inviting place to eat and we will never go there again. We just moved here and we will find a family oriented local business to support! I will tell everyone I know about our HORRIBLE experience there!!!
The food is awesome we went in for my friends birthday and we were very satisfy with the food and service. The service was excellent. The young man and the lady keep checking up on us to make sure everything was all right.
