Definitely old school but I don’t get the negative comments. In no way hip, the Pioneer is a good place to stop for a hearty breakfast.I picked the Mexican Scramble with Chorizo and it was tasty served promptly. The portions were good for the price ($5.89) although coffee and tax pushed it past 8 bucks. Still not a bad deal.Will I stop back in? Yes!
Have to agree with Go Val. Good home country family restaurant. Atmosphere is very rustic, food is good.
Great family dining. Don’t go expecting cutting edge culinary treats, but its hard to ind better comfort food with great prices in the area. Good chicken fried steak with gravy, and they know how to make a good red draw. I’m not from Texas but they made us feel welcome. When you’re traveling on business you sometimes get tired of chain restaurants and fancy places, and Pioneer is a good relaxing place to get things like Mom used to make for you. Just don’t try to overanalyze the atmosphere or the menu and enjoy it for what it is.

Breakfast was cold.. Ordered chicken fried steak and eggs and everything was cold. Place wasn’t that busy either.
First time. I’m not from Texas. It was great! Prices were great. Food was great. We had breakfast. The chicken fried steak (yum) and steak. We’ll go back 🙂
Pioneer. This place serves authentic, country home cookin’. The portions are large, and the price is right. I love this place!
