There are reasons that some restaurants are still standing… This place has well-crafted food at very reasonable prices, good daily specials, and a good selection of food. Most of their food is made on site from scratch. Their waitresses have been there forever and they DO remember your name and sometimes your order. There is nothing snobby about the Pioneer. They have good BBQ, their CFS is probably the best in town, yes, it’s a little dingy and it’s not in a fashionable neighborhood, but it’s a really good restaurant and I eat here often and bring friends here.
P3 is what it is.. It’s been here since 1949 and looks it. Some will see charm and authenticity, some will see rundown and outdated. The staff is friendly, the service was fast, the food is delicious, and there’s a jukebox at each table filled with country music – both old and new – that costs 50cents a song. When you play something fun, people sing along. I didn’t think it was dirty, but it is quite worn. It’s also dark inside. It takes my eyes time to adjust and even then it’s dim. The nonsmoking section is just a handful of tables in the foyer by the register, the rest of the restaurant is smoking. If you have a problem with smoke, I say just skip it. I went at lunch and its ‘seat yourself’ so I chose a booth away from the smokers and was not bothered at all. The waitress brought a warm wet towel with the ribs and kept our drinks full. It was a lovely experience and I plan to check out their breakfast, but it’s not a place I would visit regularly.
Growing up, I woukd eat here often with my family. The staff was friendly and the food, though cheap in quality, had a homecooked charm. Recent visits have show me that what little charm this diner had
Yummy 🙂 It may be a little dirty but the food is amazing
Rough & Tough. Step back into the early 60s and eat at this run down slum of a diner if it does not matter. You were warned. The clientel that frequents this establishment are old, dirty. Well they need a place to go to eat and smoke their cigarettes. This place is filthy. I did not have a choice, my car broke down and walked into this joint.
