I been going to Nielsen’s in Layton for years and I love it every time. The German potato salad is amazing. The concretes are delicious and huge. They even have yummy Lime Rickies. The grinders (sandwiches) are always well done and exactly the way I ask. They are fast and friendly. Their frozen custard is better than ice cream or frozen yogurt.
The custard is great, but the food leaves something to be desired. If you stick to sweet treats, I’m sure you’ll be happy!
Coming back for the potato salad!. I’ve eaten a lot of concretes from Nielsen’s over the years, which always hit the spot when I’m craving ice cream. However, last night was the first time I ever tried Liesel’s potato salad and THAT is what will keep me coming back! Seriously delicious. If you’ve never had a German style potato salad, you must try this–totally different from American potato salad. If you have tried German potato salads, you still must try this–it’s the best I’ve ever had (and I love German potato salad). Warm, savory, and so delicious mixed with the purple cabbage salad.
Amazing!. Nielsen’s frozen custard in Layton is far better than the one in bountiful. There newly remodeled building looks so good and it holds a lot more people than it did before. The service is always really good and unlike the bountiful one they accept credit cards and are very fast at bringing out your order! What people don’t know is that besides the fact that the Custard is amazing is that the food here is also way yummy too! Make sure you get the Liesels potato’s and cabbage its sooo good! I just have nothing but good things to say about this place and if you haven’t been here then its definatly worth the time to check out!
Best Frozen Custard EVER!!. I have had frozen custard, frozen yogurt, and ice cream all around this nation and I love coming back to Nielson’s. The custard is so rich and delicious! I have tried several combinations and flavors and I think they are all good. There is vanilla based and chocolate based frozen custard. I prefer the chocolate base. I prefer the Layton location to the Bountiful location because they have candy bar toppings and Bountiful doesn’t. The other unique thing about the Layton Nielson’s is that they have excellent sandwiches (which they call grinders) and German potato salad (which is incredible).
