Below average..First off, the dining room had more character and comfort before they remodeled some years back. Now its just a big, empty space without an ounce of privacy. Food was also tastier before and was served faster. Too bad we can’t turn back the clock ten years. The good: monkey ball, mexican crunch rollThe bad: nigiri, hunger roll, french kiss roll, vegas roll, tempura veggiesThey use huge pieces of cucumber as filler in most of their rolls, cut waaaay too big. Nearly every roll we had came with the huge cucumber piece, overpowering the taste. Very hard to eat. I complained to the server, she said something under her breath and did nothing to remedy it. Nigiri were served on a bad batch of rice, making them dry and hard to swallow. Mackerel had no lemon juice and was falling apart. Embarrassing. They use shredded crab here, like crab salad. But tempura fried with all those goodies on top, the monkey ball was quite tasty. Mexican crunch roll was also good, but sadly the only winning roll I’ve had here so far. Tempura veggies were disappointing as well. The batter was thin, a bit too greasy and heavy instead of the light and fluffy its supposed to be. And the choice of veggies was odd (broccoli, yuck) and portions too small.Overall, considering its positive local reputation, this place was a real let down to me, and especially to my wife who wasted a birthday dinner here. I’ve noticed that folks who know good sushi complain about Takara regularly. Hopefully they get their act together, since they’ve nearly cornered the Logan market by buying out and subsequently closing Happy Sushi. Until they make those necessary changes..i’d recommend avoiding Takara.

As loyal customers to Happy Sushi for several years, we were sad to hear they were merging with Takara. We decided to give Takara a try after Happy Sushi closed, thinking that they may have the same product, and were utterly disappointed. The ramen was mushy and had no flavor, the rice was over cooked/sticky/mushy, the roll had crab salad instead of crab, and we didn’t receive all of our order (we ordered take-out). That being said, when I walked in to grab the order, I had to wait an additional ten minutes before it was ready, even though I arrived at the time I was told to. In the end we gave our food to the dog, as it was not in any way enjoyable.I called and filed a complaint with the above information. The girl whom I spoke with completely agreed with me about the quality of the food served at Takara compared to Happy Sushi; she used to serve there. She also told me that she feels bad when the loyal customers from Happy Sushi come into Takara expecting the same quality, because she knows that they will be disappointed. If you want quality sushi, don’t eat here. We will most definitely not be returning.

Awesome!!. I loved it! Fast and very polite service and some of the best and most affordable sushi I’ve had. Great experience.

Love this place!. Considering Im a poor college student, being able to eat here on a college budget is rare and amazing for sushi. I have this place 5 stars. Tasted great and didn’t make me regret spending.

This is a go-to for birthdays and anniversaries! My husband and I can’t get enough, and would go often enough to try every roll and dish if our wallets would allow! Great service,(occasionally you’ll have a young student server who is less passionate/knowledgeable) but overall a GREAT sushi experience. Quality food for a great price!!

I really wish their service was better. It’s really good sushi with great prices but the service is awful. I walked in and stood up front while the owner/manager lady yelled at a coworker for ten minutes without even noticing my presence. This has happened to me multiple times and it makes me feel super uncomfortable. Otherwise it’s a great place

Good sushi, but poor customer service with no allergy knowledge. Most of the sushi restaurants in Cache Valley offer gluten-free soy sauce (most contains wheat), and servers can identify rolls that contain flour… but not at Takara. Our server did not know what gluten was, or whether soy sauce had wheat in it, and when she asked other servers and the manager they replied that they had none. My friends ordered while I ran out to the nearest grocery to buy me my own bottle of GF soy sauce (incidentally, the GF soy sauce was the cheapest one there). The sushi at Takari was quite good. However, at the end of our meal, the manager brought me a bottle of gluten free soy sauce (the same cheap on I bought) and informed me that they would need to charge me an extra dollar to use it. I kindly thanked him, said no thanks, and left (since we were done eating anyway). I can deal with restaurants that don’t have GF specialties, but not restaurants that are rude, uninformed, and then petty about it.
