We came here on a weekday night for little family get together. We were seated right away and were given more than enough chips and salsa to hold is over before we got our entrees. I really like their chips! We got our entrees and I was surprised that they were spicier than I expected, which I certainly don’t mind. I got the mole enchiladas and did like them. Service was prompt, keeping our glasses full, but our waitress was very awkward and hard to understand. I guess it’s a good thing that we were pretty low maintenance! While I do have my favorite Mexican restaurants in town, I did like this place and felt it was up to par. However, for the prices we felt we would rather go to other places that have more flavor and authenticity. But if you’re looking for a good classic Mexican restaurant, you’ve found it!
TERRIBLE. COLD fajitas!! How can you serve fajitas without the sizzling plate??? We even specifically asked if the plate was sizzling (since we had previously been told they no longer use those plates due to a lawsuit and someone being burnt) and the waitress said YES!!! Food came out on a regular plate… and our waitress forgot our flour tortillas! Food was completely cold and dry. We returned one order of the fajitas and they brought it back out for us MICROWAVED! If you want REAL Mexican food, or anything close, go somewhere else. Don’t waste your time.
WTF?!?!?!. My girlfriend and I went to Tres Hombres for dinner tonight and it was horrible. The chips and salsa looked and tasted like something bought from the store. Our waitress was good about taking our order but did not come back to ask us how our food was after we received it. My girlfriend had the shrimp fajitas and they were awful. Since when do fajitas have zucchini, baby carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower in them? She said the shrimp was okay but the shrimp had a funny taste due to the vegetables they were cooked with. The fajitas were not brought out on a sizzling plate like EVERY other restaurant. I had a combination plate with an cheese enchilada, shredded beef taco, chicken taquitos, and a relleno. The taco and taquitos were good. The enchilada sauce had a nice flavor, but my enchilada barely had any cheese in it. My entire entree was covered in lettuce and green onions. Why not use two plates for such a large entree? After uncovering my relleno, it was absolutely horrible. I had to cut off two bite size pieces before even finding the relleno in the disgusting corn breading they put over it. This corn breading was so thick that the relleno was larger than my enchilada. After finding the relleno, I tried a bite and almost threw up. It was soooo disgusting. It tasted like fryer oil and mushy corn bread. This was one of the worse dining experiences we have had in over a year and we will not be back. We are upset that we paid almost $35 for two plates of crappy food that I would not even feed to my dog. I strongly recommend avoiding Tres Hombres because their food was horrible and you will get better service at McDonald’s.
Bad first experience eating at Tres Hombres. 3 out of the 4 dishes for our table were incorrect, and it took quite a long time to even get our plates. One dish was supposed to be two smothered burritos….the dish came to the table and was not smothered…not even a tiny bit of chile verde. Two dishes were supposed to be machaca con huevos (grilled veggies and shredded beef scramble with eggs and baked with cheese)…and there was not a speck of beef in either dish. Aside from the incorrect dishes, our waitress was very good and very apologetic for the missing beef and chile verde smothering. She offered to bring out ground beef and chile verde to add to our incomplete dishes, but we had already waited so long that we didn’t want to bother getting the additions. The waitress spoke with her manager and said he would come talk to us about the error and possibly adjusting the bill. The manager didn’t even come to discuss the issue with us or to apologize. They did take $3 off each incorrect meal, so at least we didn’t have to pay for the meat that we didn’t get. The only good things from our experience at Tres Hombres were the chips and salsa and the service of our waitress. She was very attentive to refilling drinks, chips, and salsa…all well before they were empty. And she apologized multiple times for the long time it was taking for our dishes to come out and for them being incorrect. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
The food is alright, but take the bus, the parking is the worst for this neighborhood. You’ld be better off downtown.
I love Tres Hombres!. I have been going to Tres Hombres for years! Best Mexican food in the state by far! Try the chili verde. There is nothing like it! Selection is great. Something for everyone & the atmosphere is perfect. Always great service & friendly managers & bartender make it all that better. Try it!
