The food was delicious, the service impeccable & helpful, and the atmosphereis quiet and sophisticated. This was the first place I had seen offer a saki flight (don’t get out that much) so we tasted 3 from quite an extensive list. Price was reasonable and we return when we have a chance!
Changed for the worse.. I normally do not take time to write reviews and definitely not a bad review. Sadly, Rice was one of our go-to restaurants yet the new menu is very limited. Further there was a totally raw egg in the udon soup. Not sure if this is authentic – my guess is that normally the soup would be hot enough to partially cook the egg – not the case as served. The restaurant was mostly empty so I hope they turn things around quickly enough to survive. California roll and shrimp tempura roll were the same as always – tasty enough. But the rest was BAD…
Horrible Delivery Experience. Called in a phone order for a Vegas Roll, Rainbow Roll, Potstickers and Bon Bon Chicken. Was told 30-40 Min. Called and hour later to check and was told it was on its way. The person answering the phone was rude and gave no apology and acted like i was out of line to check on an order. After another 40 min was finally called by the driver who was in the right building but could not find find the apartment though he mentioned seeing all 5 other apartments on the 3 floors could not find 7J. Stepped out the door so driver could see the correct apartment and he had to go back to the car to get the food. Decided to check the food before accepting the order since it had taken so long and the pot stickers had gotten cold and the chicken was just lukewarm. I have never refused to accept a take out order until today but This time I did. Called to speak to the manager to lodge a complaint on the service again the same person answered and gave a half-hearted I’m sorry, and said I could not talk to the manager as the were gone and would not be back for 30 min. So now I sit 2 hours later with no food and a bad taste in my mouth from someplace that is supposed to be a good restaurant.
Wonderful Surprise!. Have gone to various restaurants at the crossroads of Murray Holladay Road. They all seem to go very quickly. So it was with some trepidation that we decided to visit Rice Basil. We had thought it was strictly sushi but were delighted to discover a wide variety of Asian dishes. The food was wonderful. The service great. And finally, some care was taken with the decor. We will be back. We want to support our community!
