Beautiful restaurant inside, really awesome ambience; love the tables! The price?… wasn’t worth it. The food is just… Decent. I definitely have had better meals at cheaper restaurants. Not sure if I would ever want to return.

Great place when you crave a steak. Let me tell you about some things the Prairie Schooner isn’t:A fine dining establishmentA place for vegetariansI’ve been here numerous times. Two things that stand out in my mind: the steaks are great and the fried mushrooms are awesome. There’s way too many mushrooms for us to eat and still have room, but they’re still amazing

What happened??. The last time I went to the Prairie Schooner before tonight would have been about 6 months ago and a few more times before that in 2011/2010 total. I started going back there after attending a seminar and was so impressed with the service and the food quality. I could not believe the difference tonight. The meal prices were about $5 higher a plate. The portions were way smaller. We ordered the seafood salad just to get a grocery store style bag of lettuce, with one big shrimp, and some smaller salad shrimps and that’s it. That salad was $13. The meal was okay, at best, and the baked yam that I got this time was cut off at the ends and very small. The dinner salad was another store bought style bag of lettuce, maybe a cup, no frills, no thrills, not even a cucumber piece, with most of my plate left bare as it was so small. I had a gift certificate that they would not accept, and my other party members were complaining about how tough their Cowgirl filet mignons were (one was rare, the other well). I have had the Cowgirl for 25+ years and never ever had a tough one. The service was awesome. The staff is always nice. Kudos to them, I know its not their fault. The atmosphere was sketchy too, the lighting was brighter than usual, and I was really able to see other peoples food slung all over the covered wagon behind my other party’s heads, and when we dropped something on the floor and reached under the table, yuk! You will definitely not get the bang for your buck. Whoever came in and gave them these new ideas for cost cutting is going to shut them down. Sorry PS, but if your going to raise the prices so high, at least impress us with the food with some kind of effort.

Can’t relate to the negative reviews here. Been a family favorite for 30 years and I can honestly say it’s one of the few restaurants that is as good or better now than ever. I always order the 10 oz filet, the Prairie Chicken (great marinade), or the Turkey Steak. Simple fare – straight forward, but done right. Ample portions accompanied by green salads (get the house ranch) and warm bread with butter and honey. The atmosphere of covered wagons under the nighttime sky with wild animals all around really adds to the experience and makes it memorable for the kids. Order the deep fried mushrooms as an appetizer, adjust the lighting in your wagon, relax, enjoy the food, and go home full and happy.

Lousy food and service, fun atmosphere. Yes, the decor is fun but the expensive meal and mediocre service isn’t worth it. I waited one and a half hours and by the time my meal got there it was 11:30 at night and cold. I’ve been to this restaurant for work lunches and have taken my family here, but not once had an experience that was good in my estimation. Go somewhere else for a good steak.

I have had better experiances at the cheaper steak houses expensive food wasnt the real problem the cold food and horrable service is what makes this place a bad choice

Very expensive 30-75 dollar entrees. Awesome looking restaurant but terribly slow service. Took 15 minutes for a waitress to show up.
