*Revised review below* The food is amazing here and it used to be my favorite restaurant until recently. The current service leaves much to be desired. In fact, the last time my girlfriend and came here, the service was so bad that I refuse to return. We were here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and could not have had a worse experience. When we first arrived, we were rudely seated by a blonde waitress. She didn’t say one word to greet us, just pointed where we should sit. We were placed in the corner next to a group of obnoxious senior citizens that didn’t know they were in a Japanese restaurant (they thought it was Brazilian). This group was loud and rude throughout the entire course of their meal. The man directly next to us coughed throughout the entire meal, claiming that salty food made him cough. We ordered our usual miso soup, Vegas rolls, and California rolls after waiting at least 10 minutes for our new brunette waitress to pay attention to us, instead of the group next to us. Usually they bring the miso soup right out after we order it, but the new waitress claimed the chef hadn’t started a new batch and that the older batch was too salty. So we waited. And waited. And waited. After just about getting up and leaving after a 30+ minute wait and having to endure 30 or more excruciating minutes of unavoidably listening to the ignorant group next to us, they brought us our order. The sushi was delicious, as usual, but they forgot to bring us a little bowl, so we could pour our soy sauce to dip the sushi in. No big deal, but still slightly annoying. About half-way through our meal the restaurant was getting pretty full, so while we were still eating, the waitress interrupted us to bring the check to the table to try and get us out the door as quickly as possible. At this point we still hadn’t received our miso soup and the waitress asked if we still wanted it. I was so mad at this point that I was ready to leave, but they had already charged us for the miso soup, so of course I was going to wait for it. This was the worst service we have ever received at this restaurant or any restaurant, but we typically receive fair to good service here, so it may have just been an anomaly. This experience ruined our anniversary dinner and we definitely won’t be coming back here for quite some time. Its truly a shame too, because the food is excellent. *Edit* We did eventually come back about 9 months later, because of how good the sushi is and had a much better experience. Chalking up the first part of the review to an off day.
Great service. Attentive but gave us the space and time to decide without forgetting about us. The Xanax and Sweet Jesus rolls alone are enough to return. The water tasted clean. Everything was nice about the experience. Even the music was not loud or annoying like at some establishments. The Mesa roll was ok but benefitted greatly from a hit of soy sauce. The spider roll was good but not excellent. The Geisha roll was not very good without soy sauce and Wasabi. Definite recommend on this place.
Best sushi place to go. Ever. I would recommend this place to anyone. I love the dynamite, honeymoon, playboy, and so many others. Can’t go wrong. Open late on weekends and who doesn’t love sushi at midnight.
Bad food. Worst sushi I’ve had in Utah
Love the late night specials!. On Fridays and Saturdays15 Nov, 2014Vegas. Salmon, crab, avocado, cream cheese roll deep fried and finished with eel sauce and a spicy aioli. Warm, crunchy, and wonderful.
Great disappointment!. I went with the reviews and I I still don’t know how it got 94% likes. It was one of the worst sushis I’ve ever had, including store bought. Too much rice, not enough of the main ingredients. Even the rice tasted weird. Do not go!
Theeeeeee best. The best sushi in Utah county!
