Never been more disappointed in going out to eat.. I took my family to lunch here today, (11/28/2014) and we LITERALLY walked out!!!! As we got up and were leaving the waitress STILL didn’t offer a check or bring us the boxes we had asked for 10 minutes before hand. We were seated immediately and I was very excited to eat here. When the waitress came to get out order she was onery and annoyed. I get having a bad day and not wanting to deal with anyone, so we didn’t mind, we just brushed it off. My food was literally inedible and after it sitting in front of me for 20 minutes, I finnally got the waitresses attention to ask her about it, she looked at me in discust and basically told me to eat it or not she doesn’t care either way. I reminded her that we STILL didn’t have our drinks. So 10 minutes later, we got them. Several employees would walk right past us as if we weren’t even there. One finally stopped and asked if she could get us anything, I asked for boxes, we waited for another 15 minutes for boxes and/or a check, we would have settled for anything including an employee to offer help, we got nothing. As I was putting money on the table and my family was headed out the door, the waitress looked at me but didn’t say a word. I started at her for a minute to give her a chance to stop me and get my check, but she started cleaning off the table behind us instead. So the food was average, the service was beyond terrible, and they don’t care at all if you walk out! I regret leaving as much money on the table as I did!!!!! Worst experience ever.
One of my favorite meals ever. I ate the Molchajete and I died and went heaven for lunch. It is in my top five meals of my life. The flavor is so amazing. The sauce was so good, the meat was all cooked to perfection (not dry or overcooked at all). The shrimp was large and succulent. I would highly recommend this dish. it is large, large enough for two people to share. The salsa was also excellent. For me the free chips were rather mediocre but the salsa was so good I just drowned them and I couldn’t even tell they were there. Maria Bonita is a new favorite.
Finally! Perfect Latin food Utah. I have been waiting a very long time to get authentic delicious Latin food and Orem. Here it is! You drive up to the restaurant and you expect it to be any old Latin restaurant at a strip mall. You walk into the restaurant and the first thing you notice is beautiful artwork at the desk. Then you set down with a very kind nice waitstaff. After ordering you set and smell the wonderful food cooking on the grill. Then the food comes! Delicious! I have never had better nogales my life. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is delicious and inexpensive. Hopefully it stays that way.
It was decent. The portions were huge which was good but there were flaws for sure. It took twenty minutes to simply get waters. Then wheb our food finally came we were amazed at how huge the portions were! I ordered the half nachos and my husband got the giant quesidilla. The quesidilla was good and extremely filling but the nachos was probably enough to feed 4. Unfortunately the nachos were disappointing and didn’t have much flavor to them. Overall there are other Mexican restuarants we would prefer to go to instead. It wasn’t terrible just not as good as we had hoped.
Not bad. The carnitas plate wasn’t bad. Not great, but not bad either. The chips and salsa were pretty standard. The rice soup was quite good, though. It’s probably just leftover Mexican rice in a house-made stock, but it was surprisingly good for a free appetizer. The carnitas were fine. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing stood out either. Not too lean, decently porky flavor. The rice was average, and the beans were good, but not great. The carnitas came with three mounds of chopped onion, tomato, and cilantro, which was a nice touch. The guac was decent. The corn tortillas were crumbly and dry.The house-made pickled jalapenos and carrots (escabeche) on the side was a nice touch, but the salsa verde they served with the carnitas was just the escabeche blended up. A little disappointed by that.Decor was nice, and the service was very fast and efficient, even though it was quite busy.No complaints about this place – I’d try it again (but order something else) – but for carnitas, there are better options.
Best Mexican in Orem. My wife and I frequent many restaurants and have been to Maria Bonita’s several times. You have to be in the mood for authentic Mexican food and you need to come with an appetite. They serve good freshly prepared food that is bursting with flavor and the portions are massive. Excellent bang for your buck. They even make their own mole’ sauce from scratch that is very distinct (not my thing, but my wife loves it).I love their shredded beef chimichunga. I’ve tried several of their menu items and for the most part, any traditional Mexican dish is well represented here. Think Los Hermonos style and quality food without the snobby atmosphere and with better prices. Enjoy!
They never cease to amaze me! Absolutely the best and freshest Mexican food ever! Their new place is bigger and nicer too.
