Fantastic Experience. I’m not sure what made my experience at J&G so amazing. Was it the Funicular ride to the top of the mountain? Was it the server who helped me select the right wine? Was it the Crab Salad that made me yearn for the Seacoast in the Wasatch Mountains? Was it the Grilled Pork Belly and Grilled Selections Plate with melt-in-your mouth flavors brought to me by Chef Landon? Or was it the most perfect Butterfish prepared for me by Chef Tyson? Perhaps it was all of these things. I just know that it was fantastic!

Now a ski in ski out lunch meets higher expectations. Modern comfy dining room with a fireplace. House soups and rotating entrees.

It was great!. I stayed at the St. Regis last month and ate here twice. Both times it was great. I’m extremely surprised at all of the poor reviews. I would recommend the short ribs, salad with shrimp, or salmon. It was all fantastic!

High prices, few vegetarian options. However- what vegetarian options they offer are terrific. We’ve been here three times this fall, and will go back. The black truffle and fontina cheese pizza ($17) was marvelous. I ordered a salad as well and it was good- I was disappointed with their fries, much better fries for less money elsewhere. I would recommend the ginger soda- it’s homemade and fabulous. I think their drink menu is way overpriced- but for an occasional date night, it’s fun to ride up the Funicular and enjoy the fire garden around sunset.

Slow service; salty and odd flavors. We had a large business group out in a private room at J&G. I’d have to say that it was disappointing.Diners take forever to be seated, and the food takes forever to come out of the kitchen. The new tasting menu should be avoided at all costs. Dishes are supposed to remind you of the Spice Market in New York, but that just means that everything is overseasoned. Oh, and the cilantro yogurt tastes like a bar of hotel soap, or maybe like cheap shampoo. Terrible.Oddly, the waiter didn’t know what St. Germain is. He said he asked at the bar and they didn’t have it, so my wife ordered a Pim’s Cup. He literally brought just a glass of Pim’s, not mix, no ice. Just Pim’s, seriously?!?!?! The other piece was that the waiter was really rather rude as my wife ordered. Otherwise, the food service was OK but they gave my steak to the wrong person, then my steak was a little overcooked. Pittsburgh Medium Rare does NOT mean that you overcook medium rare by the amount of the char. One of my friend’s bone-in-ribeye was not a very impressive cut of meat. He left a great deal of it. Too bad.In general you’d have to call this a three star night, but for a $1,000+ dinner, one expects better.

Nice atmosphere. Pretty views. Misleading infomation from concierge. Very slow service. After our meal, we waited twenty minutes for dessert (brownie with ice cream) and another half an hour after that for our ticket. I think the blonde bombshell behind us was distracting everyone including our waiter and the maitre’de. It was embarrasing to watch.

Fabulous Food, Great Service. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at J&G. The restaurant was pretty quiet, and the staff really went out of their way to pamper us. We went with our servers recommendations – the mussels and black truffle pizza to start, and then the slow cooked salmon and beef tenderloin – all I can say is WOW! Everything was so flavorful – nicely seasoned, vibrant and fresh – not drowning in gloppy sauces. The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly. A big surprise was that there was a good selection of reasonably priced wine (think under $50). Be sure to order the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream – perfect end to a perfect meal!
