Been here on multiple occasions. I loved it at first but it hasn’t been living up to the original hype as of late. I usually get the Pork Navajo Taco. I have always loved their fry bread but the last few times it has been super greasy. Additionally, it seems as though the portions are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. Still a taste place, but used to enjoy it so much more!

The Black Sheep is a staple of the downtown Provofood scene. Providing a nice break from the general options found downtown with a wonderful Navajo inspired menu. The ambiance is very simplistic but I feel like it fits the food very well adding to the meal. Service is always top notch, however, I have noticed during rush times theirefficiencydoes suffer, which can equate to longer wait for service. Highlights of the menu are the Navajo tacos (I am a personal fan of the braised beef), as well as the Nachos, and the prickly pear lemonade. If you are not familiar with the new downtown, Black sheep is a great way to enjoy all the changes it has gone through recently. Followed up by ice cream at Rockwells, makes for a great night.

The resturant is very small and if you have a large party I would suggest you make reservations. We didnt, we were a party of two, but we were seated super fast. The party of 5 who came in before us had to wait quite a while. The menu is very small and limited to Southwest dishes. As an appetizer we had the green chili fries and the green chili was real. I’m from New Mexico home of the green chili and I can vouch! My coworker ordered the pork Navajo taco and I dared to be diffrent and ordered the hog jowl tacos. My partner said the Navajo taco was good, it was real fry bread and the pork was good. The hog jowl tacos were AMAZING. The coleslaw cut the heaviness in the jowl meat and the bar b q sauce was amazing. The beans had a great taste as well. LOVED IT!

Excellent food and service. I have had their green chile soup (with a side of their delicious fry bread) as well as the hog jowl tacos, and I was very impressed with each. Great flavor. Only reason I am giving a 4.5/5 is because the price is rather expensive. Definitely a place we couldn’t go on a regular basis, but it’s great when you want something a little nicer. clarkscondensed.com

Wow I must not have been wearing the right clothes tonight… I walked in to try a new place and was seated right away. I sat for fifteen minutes with out one person coming to help me. I watched several other people come in and be seated and get service with water right away, waiters continued to walk past my table. Seriously I wanted a whiskey and good food and could not even get water !!!!

Unimpressed. I Walked in with a girlfriend this last Saturday to enjoy a nice lunch at black sheep cafe in Provo but unfortunately we ended leaving after about 40 minutes of waiting after being told it would be about a 10 minute wait. There were about 4 tables open and no one in front of us to be seated. It was disappointing that the hostess never checked on us or gave us an update. We were hungry and the lack of communication from the staff plus the prolonged unexplained wait made us changed our minds in going somewhere else. I wish the hostess would have kept us informed or at least seated us and started us off with a drink. it was disappointing that when I told the hostess that we were leaving she didn’t seem apologetic at all. I’m unsure if I would go back, to me customer service matters as much as the food.

Really enjoyed this unique little cafe. My sister-in-law recommended this place, and I’m glad she did. I had the filet mignon ragu bruschetta and the green chili frites. My husband had one of the Navajo tacos (which was huge!) with a side of sweet potato fries. We both really enjoyed our meals. I loved that it was UNIQUE delicious food. Perfect little cafe.
