Highly Recommened- not impressed. A co-worker raved about Communal. Therefore when looking for a lunch spot I suggested Communal. I ordered a salad which was overpriced but good. The mac and cheese was so salty – it was just plain nasty. Two in the party had sandwiches which were alright. Perhaps we went on a bad day? I’m surprised they are still open.

Pricey, but mostly worth it. The food is delicious. Let me just start off by saying that it’s some of the best food I’ve had in Provo. The premise of the restaurant is also very interesting (no individual plates, everything is shared), but it definitely comes at a cost. Communal is very expensive. I went to communal on a date and for the two of us to eat, it cost around $60. That’s not outrageous, but if you’re a fan of Outback Steakhouse, for example, you might be coming to the wrong place. Since I brought up Outback Steakhouse though, let me just say, that the steak at communal is in a completely different league compared with what you can get at any Outback Steakhouse. Anyway, I really like my experience at Communal, though it’s a bit too expensive for me and I can’t say I’ll make a habit of going there. Maybe on special occasions.

Brunch is Best. I have been to Communal more times than I can count, for lunch, dinner, and brunch (on Saturdays from 9am-1 I think.) Dinner is delicious. the menu is of course always changing with the seasons, but I have to say the lentils with the in house sausage, oh man. To die for. I love that a lot of the dishes are things I’ve never had before, but still so familiar and comforting. So it’s a food adventure, while still satisfying your gut. They take typical home cooked fare and fancy it up, freshen it up, and make you feel like you’re eating at home. I LOVE the atmosphere. It’s loud at nights on weekends, but think of it like a holiday family meal, aunts and uncles all gathered together. If you go on weekdays, earlier in the evening, or for lunch or brunch it’s much calmer…ya know, like most restaurants. 🙂 Anyways, lunch is lunch, french fries are yummy, burger is more like a meat loaf 🙂 but some people love that kinda thing. Brunch is where it’s at. The crepes are so unique. Not overly sweet, lots of depth in flavor. I just tried this egg tomato soup concoction the other day. When it came to my table I thought, what the heck is this? But then I tried it, and once again I fell in love with this place. They are always surprising me, and giving my tastebuds new experiences. biscuits and gravy are a must. Pigs are butchered in house, meats are smoked in house, everything’s in house. They bring in the animal carcass and take it from there. 🙂 They buy everything locally and organically, grass fed, free range, yada yada. I can’t say enough good about Communal.

Indulgent and genuine. I have been to Communal a few times and I will go again and again. Each entree, drink, dessert, appetizer, soup, veggie, etc has elevated my expectation for good food. We come here when we want to savor the individual flavors of great/fresh ingredients coming together for a masterpiece. Yes, it is pricey- but I love it.
