What an amazing breakfest! Our new favorite in Provo. We tried 5 different kinds of kolaches and we loved them all! Get there early. We arrived at 7:30 and there was only a few people there, but by 8:00 the line was out the door.
Unique, flavorful breakfast options with friendly and enthusiastic service. The kolaches are filled with numerous options, freshly baked, and damned good.We had two sausage, cheese and jalapeno and twocheesy sausage and egg. All wereexcellent. I also ordered a Texas sausage…a spicyoffering wrappedin thesame unique dough. The sausagehad a kick and may be a little much for some, but trampled my spice meter…very good. They also have a wide variety of fruit kolaches for a sweet finish to a one-of-a-kind breakfast.
The best breakfast in Provo! They’re basically, fresh made roles stuffed with magical breakfast concoctions. At $1-3 each, this is the tastiest deal in town.
Forget the McGriddle, Grab a Kolache!. Food = amazing and cheap (get the big Kolaches)People = awesome, friendly, wonderfulI first tried one of these at a big event in Downtown Provo called PlayStreet Provo. It was love at first bite. The kolaches are delicious, fresh, and just really hit the spot whether you’re looking for savory or sweet.Give it a try, you won’t regret it!
Unique new breakfast spot; high-quality, scratch-made kolaches.. Hruska’s Kolaches serves kolache, or kind of a Czech-Texan bread roll, stuffed with either sweet or savory fillings and baked. The dough is soft, lightly sweet, white bread, with just a bit of a crust. Some are flattened with the filling on top, while others have the filling completely enclosed.I initially tried a selection of the savory mini-kolaches – various combinations of egg, cheese, ham, bacon, sausage, jalapeno, and/or mushroom. All were good, none great, though the mushroom was probably my favorite. Everything tasted very fresh and was clearly made from scratch, in house (unlike some other kolache I’ve had elsewhere, which tasted very industrial), but they were just mildly interesting little tidbits. However, on a subsequent visit I tried the full-size kolache. Different beasts, altogether. Much better than the skimpy mini-kolache, and absolutely loaded with filling. Hefty things. The egg, bacon, cheese and jalapeno was light-years better than any fast-food breakfast sandwich you’ll find anywhere. The mushroom-bacon (open-faced) was also very good. The sausage and gravy was an interesting twist on biscuits and gravy, and my kids loved the pulled pork. The one miss was the Texan, a kind of sausage roll stuffed with a house-made and -smoked beef, jalapeno and cheese sausage. The sausage itself is quite good, but I found the skin to be too tough; it was hard to cut it with my teeth. Maybe they could skin the sausages, or perforate/score the skin before baking? Still, just the one miss. They use the chopped sausage (skinned) in a lot of their other kolaches, and it really works with the gravy, or with the eggs and cheese. One huge plus is that everything is obviously made fresh daily from scratch. You can see the owners and workers preparing the kolaches in the open kitchen, using fresh ingredients. That definitely comes through in the quality. Plus, the turnover is so rapid that most of the kolache are still warm from the oven.If I lived closeby, I would almost certainly eat there every single day.
