Good food. This is probably the first genuinely authentic Mexican hole in the wall place I’ve been to in Provo. You know a place is great when you walk in and you’re the only white guy in the restaurant. Their carne asada burrito is the thing to get if you go there hands down.

$0.99 tacos on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Super good for any price. My favorite in Utah county that is under $8. Great salsa bar. You know it’s good if you’re the only non-ESL.

Mmmm. Best posole in Utah. Friendly owners too.

Blown away. Those were the best tacos I’ve had in a long time. This place would stand out in East LA, much less Utah Co. They have the standard taqueria offerings – tacos, burritos, huaraches, quesadillas, etc. They have an expanded menu on Fridays and Saturdays, with tamale, enchiladas, shrimp coctel, birria de res and chivo, posole, etc. The owner mentioned that the tamales sell fast…usually sell out during lunch. I’ll have to check that out.The pastor tacos were excellent. Nicely spicy and sweet with bits of pineapple. It didn’t look like they had the traditional vertical rotisserie, so the pastor was likely cooked on a griddle, but it was still dry, not saucy, like some other places. The carnitas tacos were top notch. A bit fatty, but the chunks were well-crisped on the griddle, served sizzling hot, and had a deep porky flavor. Really terrific stuff. The barbacoa tacos were a nice surprise. The barbacoa was good – very beefy shreds in a thin sauce – but the twist is that they dipped the tortillas in chile sauce, then slapped them on the griddle so they came out slightly crispy and brick red with the sauce cooked right into the tortillas…a little like a pambazo. Never seen tacos done like that before, though. It was good. My boys thought these were the coolest tacos ever. One of my boys tried an asada taco. He said it was too good to share, so I don’t know.Another boy tried the quesadilla, which was absolutely loaded with a mild, melty, stretchy cheese. The three salsas I tried – a brick-red dried chile salsa, an orange-red fruity salsa, and a tangy salsa verde – were all excellent. There’s some serious cooking talent in Laura’s Kitchen.Update: went back on a weekend to try some of the expanded menu items. The enchiladas were Mexican style; sauced very simply. Not bad, but not great either. The fried potato taco (tacos dorados) was also okay. Same with the huarache. Good, but nothing special. The tamales, on the other hand, were astoundingly good. They have a number of different flavors: chile and cheese, chicken and green chile, chicken and vegetable, beef rib (costilla), picadillo, and pork. They were so moist and hot, we wondered whether they had been made and steamed to order, but the owner said they were premade. They were loaded with filling…not skimpy at all. The chicken and green chile was mild and moist. The green chile and cheese was a knockout…loads of roasted pepper strips, and the beef rib had loads of shredded beef in a red chile sauce. The only miss was the chicken and vegetables (these always taste like Campbell’s vegetable soup to me). Still, these were some of the best tamales I’ve ever had. Great stuff.Update #2: I tried the very good gobernador taco. Whole shrimp, dusted with chili powder, sauteed, then combined with a jack-like mild cheese, roasted poblano strips and avocado slices. Excellent.

The food was reallllllly food! It was authentic and reasonably priced. You might want to make sure you know basic Spanish if you are making any modifications to your order. There was a bit of confusion with our order but everything tasted delicious!
