Very bad experience. Osaka is a restaurant that my wife &I frequently enjoyed a couple of years ago. Well, things have changed. The tableclothes and cloth napkins are gone the carpet was filthy, the walls haven’t been painted since the 80’s. Waitresses in clean attractive kimonos have been replaced with dirty tshirts and jeans. The salad was watery and our appetizers took 1/2 hour to be served. The gyoza tasted like it came from 7-11, greasy and mushy. The ebi were doughy. Our entry was served 1 hour later and was cold. When we brought this to our sloppy waitresses attention she took the meat back and put it on the grill to warm which over cooked it denying any responsibility. Even the water was absent of ice. We paid full price and received no offer of restitution from the owner who was also the cook. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dive.
Best sushi in town. I always go with my friends. Probably at least twice a week. The American roll is probably my favorite on the menu, but sometimes I like to branch out. I’m consistently satisfied whenever I go. The atmosphere is really peaceful, and the owners are always present and very kind. They’re our good friends. The sushi is my favorite I’ve tried in my sushi career, and they also have the best price. I can get full for 7 or 8 dollars. highly recommended.
Amazingly authentic! The fried shrimp was to die for, great miso soup, and the salad dressing: yum! I’d recommend this place to anyone
Awsome resturant. Loved being able to sit on the floor and in a private area like the Japanese do
The food was pretty good but the service was the worse we have ever had. One waitress for the whole restaurant and she was also the hostess. We never got our appetizer, had to ask several times for our drinks, and the tempura dipping sauce came after we had eaten all the tempura. As a note, no alcohol is served but you probably wouldn’t get it even if it was!
Love it!. I have gone to Osaka to eat for over 20 years now. I used to only get to go once a year (on my birthday) as a kid and they always remembered me and my family and one of the owners , Nancy (owned by Nancy and Frank) would come out and say hi to us. She offered me a job when I was old enough and I hated working there cause they were very insistent on good, prompt service and always made sure every customer was completely satisfied. They have the best Tempura EVER! Prices have gone up a little recently but still really cheap for all you get. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
The ChinWag Review – Osaka Japanese Restaurant. This post is very special to me because this restaurant is a place my family has frequented for 10+ years. We have celebrated birthday’s, anniversaries, farewells, homecomings, work parties all from this little Japanese restaurant loving ran by its owners. The peaceful surroundings from the small aquarium to the soft lighting set the stage for a beautiful meal and every thing seems to be a little quieter in this atmosphere. It is child friendly, serving some kids meals in a small boat, and the staff is always patient and helpful. The front of Osaka’s can be easily missed as it sits on the crowded Provo Center Street, but upon entering you will notice many seats and usually the wait to be seated is 5 minutes or less. Most tables are in the main room but upon request you can be seating in one of two Japanese style rooms, with floor seating and Shoji Screens it makes you feel like you are the only people in the restaurant. The prices are more than fair at Osaka’s with most dinner meals priced between $8-$15. I have tried a lot of different meals here with my favorites being the teriyaki chicken donburi, a Teriyaki chicken rice bowl with tempura carrots and onions. As good as all the food is the best thing in this restaurant is the Gyoza appetizer, I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Words cannot describe the gyoza, you have to taste for yourself because they are the best I have ever had and I try them almost every time I am at a restaurant that serves them.If you like Japanese food I suggest you give it a try, you will not be disappointed. From the Beef to the Poultry to the Seafood, they have something for everybody. Take your family and mingle with Nancy (the nicest woman you will ever meet). When you eat at Osaka’s a little piece of your heart stays there, I think that is what keeps calling me back. Who knows, maybe I will see some of you there someday.
