WORST BUSINESS OWNER EVER!!!. My husband and I went to Rice King hoping for some cheap, but not bad Chinese food. We weren’t expecting a lot as seeing that Provo does not have good Chinese food in general. We get into the restaurant and are seated at our table and the first thing we notice is that the carpeted floor throughout the entire restaurant is covered in nasty, old, caked-on food. But we still have hope, after all, a lot of dives turn out to have pretty good food. We order some szechuan chicken and some chow mein. The szechuan chicken is all right, nothing special. And the chow mein looks all right too, but it had this overwhelming peanut smell. My husband is anaphylactic, so therefore we decide to ask the manager about it and ultimately thank him, but return it back to the kitchen as we don’t like to take risks with my husband’s sever allergy. A few minutes later, we get our bill and they have charged us for the chow mein, which we didn’t take one bite of. I thought this was our server’s mistake and the owner would surely take it off as we didn’t touch the dish due to my husband’s allergy. I have never met a ruder business owner in my life! We had to argue with him for 5 minutes and he still billed us for the dish we didn’t touch. Not only that, but when I said that I would have come to try their restaurant again, but now I won’t be because of the horrible customer service, he said he didn’t care. I repeat, he didn’t care! I don’t think I was asking for a lot, we didn’t touch the dish, why should we have to pay for it when we are highly concerned about my husband’s allergy. He must be really desperate for money if he needs to steal from his customers like that. I will never support this business again.
Reasonably priced. Rice King is a reasonably priced good tasting alternative to many overpriced Chinese restaurants. Definitely a Mom & Pop. The owner’s are great too.
Rice King is a must. If you’re some working man’s wife looking to get together with your Costco mom friends go to Paradise Bakery Cafe, this is not for you. I love a dirty, cheap chinese joint, and this place is the best. Rice King has the best hot & sour soup I have ever tasted. The value is tremendous, you get a full meal, soup, egg roll and drink for $5.49 lunch. It may not be the best chinese food on the planet (the hot & sour is the best on the planet) but for the price it blows away any competitor.
