Unexpectedly DivineThis is the most hipster place you’ve ever been to, and the flavors offered are ones your tongue has probably never tasted. It is so much fun to choose a specialty soda–they offer about five pages of specialty brews of root beer, sarsaparilla, and other sodas, and you can add a scoop of ice cream if you’d wish. We started with the hush puppies. Very very good and flavorful, but beware: these are a little spicy. I had the chicken and waffles with the maple bacon, sage, and maple-walnut butter. The waffle with the sage and butter stole the show. If only I could accurately describe it to you. It was so layered, so beautiful, so glorious. My husband had the Chubby Checker, and that was incredible as well. This was not a normal burger with onion rings and pulled pork. The flavors were robust with so many over- and undertones. I didn’t know a burger could taste like that, and I am a burger lover and a bit of a connoisseur. Everything we had was infused with unexpected flavors. Each bite had so many layers, each more intricate than the last, and each so unbelievably delicious. Every menu item is a classic you’re sure to love, but with a twist that elevates it above all expectations. Even though I’d highly recommend what we ate, I’m sure each entree is incredible.Service was good. Kitchen was a bit slow, but we came quite late on a weekday, so I think they were about to close up the kitchen. Very much worth it. Possibly my new favorite place.UPDATE:Visited again in November 2016. The poutine is a MUST. Those fries covered in gravy are so authentic and bursting with flavor. Also tried the butternut squash soup, and I can say without reservation that it was the best soup I’ve ever had. It was creamy and deep with pleasing notes of spices, but what made it particularly amazing was the streusel sprinkled on top. The nuts and brown sugar truly complimented the butternut flavor more than any other topping I’ve had. It was almost a dessert, and was truly heavenly. This is now officially my and my husband’s favorite restaurant. We will drive all the way from SLC to visit.

Great place!. We had a lovely lunch. Great salad greens, chicken salad, hamburger and sweet potato french fries. Passed on the homemade peach cobbler but it sounded delicious. Service was more than excellent.

Don’t go. I can’t remember the last time I was so disappointed by a meal. From start to finish, just underwhelming and not good. Not real Southern food.

Awful service. The food isn’t bad even though they recently have not impressed me at all. the chicken and waffles were really bad last time I went and the waiters seem like they’ve never waited a table before. The atmosphere is excellent but can’t make up for bad food and bad service20 Sep, 2013Service is atrocious. The food is delicious. So it’s up to you whether you are willing to wait around to be seated when there are clearly unused tables and then wait for ten min for your drinks to arrive. However the chef is amazing. So order to go if you really want his food. They need new management so badly.

Not Impressed. I went to this place recently after it opened, and was really pleased with the atmosphere and the food. I went back last week, maybe 1 or 2 years later, and I was so surprised at how awful my experience was. The service was so terrible. I am pretty laid back when it comes to waiting, but my friend and I were seated before this group of 6 or so, and didn’t even see out waitress for probably 10 minutes after they had all received drinks. We finally flagged the hostess down, she got us our drink and brought us a waitress, because we were already ready to order since we had been waiting so long. We put our order in (just the 2 of us) and we waited. And waited. And waited. And honestly it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal, except a pair of guys who came in maybe 20 minutes after we had been seated, had received and were eating their food before we got ours. I don’t really see how that works. We literally had been there for at least 20 minutes when they walked into the place. And somehow they were eating before us. It was unreal. Our waitress was uninvolved and service was terrible, and it made the mediocre food seem that much less worth it. Not the priciest place, but not worth the experience in my mind.
