The decor and dining area of the Thai Basil are this restaurant’s best features: attractive, comfortable, and even a bit trendy. The food itself is, unfortunately, bland and uninspired, though it is also attractive. We’ve eaten here probably five times now and nothing is urging a sixth visit. Honestly, the food at Thai Basil is pretty boring. Recommended for a business lunch where cleanliness and decor are more important than having authentic and flavorful food. No one in your party will get heartburn or be surprised by

Very Disappointing. I went here just the other day, and the egg drop soup was gelatin, the spoon sat on top. The kung pao chicken tasted as though it was reheated. I have been here one other time, and the food was acceptable, so I thought I would give it one more try, but I think if it is getting worse rather then better it is time to stop.

Enjoyed it. My husband and I purchased a groupon for this restaurant and decided to use it on a date. We stopped just inside the door to enjoy the interestingly textured wall that acts as a screen for the restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The potsticker appetizer was good. We also got pork fried rice, which had good flavor, although the pork was a little bit dry. I enjoyed both of the entrees we ordered. The shrimp was well cooked, not rubbery from being overdone. The tofu wasn’t as crispy as my husband would’ve liked, but I didn’t have a problem with it.Overall it was a good experience and my husband and I will be going back again.

Poor dining experience. One of the worst Thai places I’ve been to. The food came out barely 3 minutes after ordering and tasted like it was thrown together. None of the complex flavors typical of Thai cuisine. Just looked like they poured soy sauce over the noodles and vegetables. The beef was tough and chewy. The sticky rice served with another dish was dry. The service was quick but very poor – they never did pick up the dirty dishes despite the fact that we stacked them on the edge of the table. The hot green tea they served us was not even warm. I eat Thai food often when I travel, and here in Salt Lake, but I’ll never be back to this place.

Vegetarian Pho!!!. THE FOOD:I’ve tried two appetizers: Fried Rangoon, Tofu Lettuce Wraps. Both were very delicious.I’ve only tried one entree and that’s because I am now addicted to it and crave it almost every day. Vegetarian Pho, a dream come true. The first time I had it was with the Soy Beef and it was very good, but the Soy Beef was a little too chewy for my liking. That can’t really be helped though, it’s fake meat, it’s going to be weird. I decided to try it with Soy Chicken and I found that to be a little less chewy. I can’t get enough of this vegetarian pho. The portion is huge, it’s hard to finish all of it. I’ve been back to enjoy a bowl about 6 times within the last month and a half. I actually plan on going to get some tomorrow. That’s saying something because I live in downtown S.L.C. and go way out of my way clear down to Riverton for this food. THE SERVICE:The service at Thai Basil is great. Everyone there has been really friendly. Your water glass will never be empty. The food is prepared pretty quickly. One of the servers has actually started to recognize me and remember what I always order. If you’re vegetarian, you’ll love this place. If you’re not, I bet you’ll still love it. Go.

Excellent food, and excellent service. We tried this place on a whim but it was definitely worth the drive from Midvale.
