Also glad to have used a coupon.. Tempura veggies – not crispchicken curry – like a novice home cook would makea seafood dish – unbalanced flavorsThe wait – long. It’s close to the Broadway – do not go before a movie or you’ll need to scurry out the door.
Everest has such a large variety on their menu, everytime I go I get a chance to try something new. that is what makes it different from the other two Tibetan restaurants in Utah. some of my families favorites are: pan fried veggie momos, pan fried beef momos, hibachi chicken fried rice, and the veggie chow mein. My absolute favorite is the everest spicy tofu (ask the chef to add spinach to this dish) it is so delicious and I usually hate the taste of tofu but this dish is seriously a party in your mouth!! most people complain about the service at everest but it is a small family owned restaurant that has 1 chef and 1 server..why would you expect them to be fully staffed for a small restaurant? the service is always great when we go there and it honestly is worth the small amount of wait time (13 minutes til we got our order).
No Bueno. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty and we were instructed by the host (who doubled as the only server in the entire joint) to sit anywhere. The table we chose was dirty, so the host grabbed a rag and wiped it down. When we sat down, the table was damp and the moldy smell from the rag was wafting up into our faces. We started with the calamari, which tasted a bit rancid and chewy. Then we had the beef soup and the chicken curry. After adding tons of salt and pepper flakes, we started to get a bit of flavor in the soup but not much. The chicken curry was also bland and was just bits of chicken in a greasy, yellow curry sauce with a cup of watery rice. The server/host was polite and meant well but his hygiene and professionalism was questionable. His girlfriend arrived halfway throughout the night and regaled him with the proceedings of her recent trial. The chef sat in the back with his family and did not address us or ask how the meal was. We will not be returning any time soon. Himalayan Kitchen cannot even be compared with this place–it is 100x times better.
Buffet. Me and a couple coworkers went to check this new place out because we love Indian buffets, but it was DISGUSTING. The selections were few, uncovered, cold and GROSS. Our waiter appeared to be a tweaker, and the restaurant as a whole was uncomfortably dirty. If you want Indian buffet, go to Kathmandu (if you are willing to make the drive) or Himalayan Kitchen (if you would rather stay in the downtown area).
Yummy!!! Pan-fried veggie momos and lentil soup are incredible. Very friendly service, nice atmosphere, great downtown location. Highly recommended!
Really fresh and well done food. Perfectly done tepanyaki of any type. Everest special deep fried momos also excellent. You can tell a lot of care goes into this food.
Fresh, Home-Cooked Tibetan Food. I’ve been to Everest twice now – once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times I received exceptional food and service. Lots of options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. All food is clearly prepared fresh and uses quality ingredients. Their lunch buffet is excellent and their dinner entrees are tasty as well. I particularly enjoyed their lentil soup, curry and lentil dishes. The lentil soup is great as a lite and spicy appetizer. I’ve been served by the same gentlemen on both visits and he is very professional and courteous. All in all – I rate their food and service much higher than their competitor, the Himalayan kitchen.
