Arrogant. The food is overpriced and the service is best described as smug. Don’t bother asking for anything unless you’re prepared to beg.
This place has gone WAY downhill!! I used to eat at this bistro regularly. It’s been about two years since I have eaten here and wow what a completely different experience. I ordered the buffalo medallions. For $28.00 I thought it would be amazing… It wasn’t!! It was cold when it got to the table. The meat was stringy (like crockpot roast beef). It was tough and I ordered it med/rare. The portion was small and due to the toughness I could only cut through 2 of the three pieces. My boyfriends chicken was dry and cold. Such a disappointment. Sad to say, I won’t be going back. The only bright side of our experience was the staff. They were awesome!! I wish I could say the same thing about the food.
We recently moved to the area from the east coast, and a great foodie city. This was our second place, after Copper Onion when we interviewed here, on the more expensive end of the SLC restaurant spectrum. This place is not in a great area, but we did not feel at all unsafe. We made reservations the day of, a Saturday, and were seated immediately upon arrival. The server was attentive without hovering and suggested a couple of the dishes we ended up trying.We began with the Calamari, crusted in blue corn meal with a delicious spicy jalapeo aioli, and were happily surprised with the generous portion. My girlfriend had a glass of red, Cab I believe, while I followed another reviewer’s advice and had the limeade, both fair.For entrees we had the Camarones Diego: wonderful spice to the sauce, decently large shrimp, the cactus and the tres verses rice were both perfect. Also we shared the Puerco: perfectly cooked pork shank with a chocolate mole’, sweet potato mash, roasted veggies and sour cherries that were a terrific pairing with the dark mole’ and rich meat, again a generous portion.Overall we were too full for dessert but happy with the food, service, decor and experience. Price with tip came to just under one hundred.

THE best Mexican I have every had!!!. I have to start by saying that our trip to Frida almost didn’t happen as our GPS led us astray. Were we every happy that we kept trying….I was determined to get there after having read some reviews.The restaurant was quiet as we were there for lunch around 2 pm well past the rush. Our waitress was knowledgeable and personable. The food was excellent. By far the best I have had! I’ve had Mexican at a number of Bayliss restaurants and have to say that Frida was better. If you are ever in Salt Lake, you have to go to Frida’s…it will not disappoint!!!
Disappointed.. the server was very unprofessional.. no hospitality at all.. food was not great either.. will never go back here again!
