ive been eating here for 18 years, i stumbled onto the downtown location in 1997, youll never eat another crappy subway sandwich after you try gandolphos. they put about triple the meat and it tastes a hell of alot better. ive gone through the entire menu and have yet to find a sandwich i didnt like. i would highly reccomend the downtown location to anyone who appreciates a killer sandwich, the fresh pastas on the side are always great. i eat here every wednesday on my day off, its a ritual, viva gandolphos!!!!!!

Slow breakfast, not New York speed. Gandolfo’s claims to be a New York-style deli, but in the branch on South Main Street of Salt Lake City, it’s worth a pass at breakfast. When I arrived, the lights were on, but there was no one at the cash register. After I minute, I yelled out asking if anyone was working, and a cook came up from the kitchen in the back. He took my order for a breakfast sandwich — with no cheese and no butter — and said that I could grab a drink and he would work on the sandwich. It took 20 minutes to fry an egg and assemble a sandwich. In that time, two students arrived and place an order. I took my sandwich, opened it up … and in the between the halves of the sandwich saw strings that meant that the cheese had been included. I went back to the cash register, yelled for service again, and the cook said that he would remake the sandwich. It took another 15 minutes to bring out my sandwich (at the same time that he was serving the 2 students, too). A New York style deli doesn’t take 20 minutes to make a sandwich, or another 15 minutes to correct a mistake. As I was eating the egg in the kaiser, I had a little crunch that I assume was a bit of the egg shell. The good news is that this means that they use fresh eggs. The bad news is that it shouldn’t be hard for a cook to break an egg cleanly. I’m in Salt Lake City for client work, so I may have to reset my expectations for breakfast. The students didn’t seem to not expect to wait 15 minutes for a sandwich, so maybe it’s me. On the other hand, I walked by a Starbucks and a Subway on the way to Gandolfo’s as a destination, so the extra 2 to 3 minutes it took definitely wasn’t worth the energy. daviding.com

Go Gandolfo’s!. The people who work here are so friendly and boy do they make good food! I love the fact that they do not skimp a tiny bit on the best ingredients! This is my favorite old standby downtown.
