I never understood the draw to Red Iguana. The food is average. Prices high. Service with sorta of a smile. Red Iguana was in the right place, right time in the 80s. However Utah Mexican cuisine has done leaps of innovation. However you’ll always find a line out the door. I was dragged in tonight for a birthday (btw they charge $2.00 cake fee per a person if you bring your own cake). Service was fast. Didn’t get enough menus, chips tasted like they are from a bag. The portion was small vs price. They charge for rice and beans on the side. Want flour instead of instead corn? That’s another 80 cents. You could easily add 3 to 5 dollars a plate. If I had to pick a fav at good cost, it would be the enchilada amarilla (small). I believe it is 11.99. As you can see they even short you on to go boxes. If you want average Mexican food in a friendly atmosphere at a better price with bigger portions go to Su Casa or Morelli’s.

I had the enchiladas, and they were fantastic, service was great, server was very friendly. A very lively and exciting place!
