Ain’t what it used to be. Husband and I went to Snowbirds Atrium for sunday brunch today, looking forward to opulent buffet that Snowbird was known for. This included sushi bar with chef, pasta bar, lox and bagels and lamb chop BBQ, etc, as we had enjoyed each summer when Snowbird opens its Sunday brunch. This year, everything has been scaled back except the price of $35 per person. I searched out the sushi first, only to find a round tray of dried out sushi, in unappetizing varieties (tasteless cucumber rolls, eel, raw salmon) that appeared to have been pre made elsewhere (Sysco, Costco?) To make it worse, the sushi had been sliced very thin as if to make two pieces out of one. They fell apart as I tried to pick them up, and were hard to eat.No lox, bagles or cream cheese. No pasta bar, or even a pasta salad. Here’s what….an ordinary fruit platter…a cheese platter..bowl of romain lettuce…warmers with eggs, bacon, sausage, salmon, pork. French toast that was hard. A bowl of ice with about 7 shrimp on top. Outside BBQ had overly sauced pork ribs that looked like McRibs and corn on the cob…that was all. Omelet bar had omelets with five ingredients, bell pepper, tomato, onion…well, you get it. This might be a $15.95 Sunday buffet at the Sheridan, but not $35.Anyone going to Snowbirds Atrium believing it will be the grand buffet of years gone by will be sorely and expensively disappointed. The good thing is still the view of the tram and the mountains, but as someone who made five or six trips a summer to eat at that buffet, I will not be going back. Sad to see the quality is gone.
