Good food great decor. I ordered a 1/4 pound burger with Cheddar cheese. It is served naked on a very substantial and tasty bun. Then you go to the condiments bar where they have everything but the kitchen sink. I made a killer burger just the way I like it. Hubby got a huge turkey burger with Swiss cheese and, likewise made to his liking. Fries were good. Service was Great. Our bill for 2 burgers with fries and 2 sodas was just under $20.00. I don’t know what a previous poster ordered but don’t know why it cost $36.00
My husband and I recently moved to Utah from Nebraska, where beef is a popular menu item. The burger bar type atmosphere was new to us, and it would have been nice to receive some sort of explanation of how it worked, but we caught on after watching other guests, and we can’t let one lackluster waiter taint our experience. I had a burger with bleu cheese and bacon in the patty, and my husband’s had garlic cooked into it. The burgers were very good, but we don’t recommend the fried veggie appetizer. The appetizer was fried mushrooms and zucchini, but we expected thin-sliced zucchini and it was more of zucchini spears, which the breading just slid off of, leaving behind a grease-coated zucchini spear. The portions of the burgers and sides was plenty that we would have been fine without an appetizer anyhow actually. We will certainly be going back to the Salt City Burger Co when we are in the neighborhood.
Disappointing for a $36 lunch. My husband and I were here for lunch today. He got a smokehouse burger with sweet potato fries, I got a salad and onion rings, we each got a coke, and the total came to $36 including gratuity. I have nothing against a $36 lunch if the food and service warrant it, but for a BBQ chicken salad that was aggressively mediocre, and onion rings that somehow have no flavor, no texture, and too much salt at the same time, it was a little steep. The burger and sweet potato fries were ok, but still not enough to match the price. The waitress mixed up our drink orders. She brought my husband the right drink, but never corrected mine, and I finally had to fix it at the drink station myself. I had to specifically ask about the onion rings when they weren’t brought out with the rest of our order ( This was before I knew I shouldn’t have bothered). It also seemed like we were inconveniencing her by being there, even though there were only maybe 4 tables total occupied, and I could be horribly confused on this point, but I’m assuming, as a waitress, that’s what she signed up for (e.g. table waiting). The ambiance is DARLING, and the hostess was friendly, but it will be awhile before we bother with it again.
I had never really heard of a burger bar before but it is a fun and different idea. You order your burger, plain or with whatever speciality topping you want, and then the bar has things like lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, peppers, relishes, sauerkraut, and more plus several different sauces. You basically get to build your own burger. The hamburger itself was very good, one of the best I’ve had at any restaurant. The fries were pretty good too, thinner than normal fries, but they seemed fresh cut and I liked them. It’s a pub style setting, family friendly but not really ideal for big groups (more than 4 in a party would take some work to sit together). Still, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and a nice place to sit and eat. The servers were friendly and I got my order fast (granted I came around 2:30 pm). Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger that’s not too expensive and different from the norm. Plus it’s a local place, which I am all for supporting. I will definitely be back!
Love the western burger. I love the Western burger at this place. Love the original ambiance of showing off old salt lake in the restaurant. Best to top off meal with a malt or a pazooki! Nice and close to Real Salt Lake and Megaplex theatres.
Won’t go back….. We visited this place hoping they’d be better than the Bountiful location. This used to be a great place with fresh burgers made to order. Now they’ve changed the way they do things to fit a typical fast food model. They’ve taken the topping idea bar from Fudruckers and tried to copy the vintage look of Grinders, Roosters, and a bunch of other restaurants. The food was cold, portion size was much smaller (especially the bun). Service was not great. A friend had told me the Bountiful restaurant had closed, and service at this restaurant makes me think they might be struggling (which would explain why they’re resulting to the grabbing-at-straws approach of suing small-town food trucks for dress infringement in order to get money). The quality of food, the quality of service, and the business ethics of this place has really gone down hill.
A quality burger place. The bacon burgers where the bacon bits are in the burger itself very good. I like the bleu, southwest, garlic, and fire burgers. I like the topping bar concept. It reminds me of some classic Nor Cal burger places like Clark’s and Kirks. The skinny fries and sweet potato fries are good also.
