We just found this restaurant last week and loved it. By far best katsu don in the state. Having it less known will make it a definite go to. We will definitely be back!

I hadn’t heard of Hanamaru before, but searching around on the Internet helped me discover this gem. It’s a bit hidden, so unless you’re looking for it, you might miss it. I tried the Zaru Soba which was delicious. We also ordered the Katsudon which was also incredibly good. In fact, I liked Hanamaru so much, I took my parents back just a few days later. We had the Niku Udon and the Vegetable curry and we were all completely satisfied when we were done. I look forward to eating at Hanamaru again.

Closed. I really liked the Udon and the cold soba but they closed..

Temari was full, and so should Hanamaru have been! Great food, good prices, nice people. Try it, you’ll like it.

Happy Slurping Sounds. When someone from Japan claims a restaurant serves traditional Japanese fare one would be wise to pay attention. Lunch there today – in my first visit ever – wasn’t so much a meal as it was a trip back in time: Yokosuka, Japan circa 1985, where I spent the better part of a week gorging myself in that scenic port city. The food was down home Japanese. I violated all rules of decorum by pouncing on the dumplings, tempura, and noodles with the savagery of a starving Sumo wrestler. Because I was also grading this place I put the service to the test when I asked for a couple of sushi rolls that were not on the lunch menu. They happily obliged. The cost, $31 + tip for two, was very, VERY reasonable for a meal of this quality. I don’t normally vault a restaurant to my favorites list based on one visit – especially one that doesn’t have a liquor license – but I’ll make an exception here. It’s that good.

This geeky japanese girl I know went there with me for lunch, she says it is very authentic and wonderful. Try it you’ll like it. Don’t let the location fool you.

This is the best most authentic Japanese I have been to. Whoever doesn’t like this doesn’t have a palate and would be better off getting Wendy’s Asian Chicken.
