Authentic, Friendly, Yet Somehow Not My Thing. I’ve never tried hot pot, so when I saw the excellent reviews for this place, I thought I’d be adventurous and give it a try. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly, and the broth was very good (I liked the miso more than the bone). Yet, I don’t think I’ll return. I didn’t feel like I knew HOW to make a good hot pot dish; everything was foreign, and there were no instructions. I loaded a plate up with raw food that was unknown and unlabeled (evidence that the audience/patrons of this place are probably Chinese or at least familiar with traditional Chinese hot pot items), and I attempted to cook the food in the boiling broth at my table. I had no idea if I under/overcooked the food. I disliked the fish balls and the item that looked like a meatball, but the vegetables were good. I just felt like a fish out of water. Also, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired (strange bright red walls, a dance floor that uses up part of the restaurant, etc.), and there is no beer. That’s a big strike in my book.My spouse ordered a bento box, and it was fine. The chicken was heavily battered and fried (more than he likes), but the handmade dumplings were very good. They were definitely the highlight of the meal.
Just moved to slc and this place is nearby. It looks a little sketch on the outside but the staff is very friendly and attentive. There looks to be a buffet, but it was not running when we were there at 7 pm on a tuesday. I had the chicken and green onion bento-box. The portion was just right and quite inexpensive at $9. It comes with 3 pot stickers, a ranch salad, and white or fried rice. I asked for spicy but it had absolutely no heat. There were several red chilis but they contributed nothing. My wife had the generals chicken and her father had the Kung pao. All good, but very little or no heat in terms of spice. The hot pot dish at other tables looks great and will be the next thing I try there. I would definitely recommend going here, especially for lunch. Just don’t have high hopes for atmosphere or spicy food.
Nice place, good food.. I was glad to see a Chinese food restaurant open just around the corner from my place and i finally tried it today, the place is huge and we should have tried the buffet but didn’t have time, it looked good though.i had kung poa chicken my friend had beef with broccoli and we got an order of dumplings. Everything was really good i kinda wish the kung poa had more of a kick to it but that’s alright it was still tasty and you get a lot in the lunch specials, salad, 3 pot stickers, and fried rice. I tried to take pics of the menu but they were blurry sorry but go in and give them a try they were very nice to us.
