Worth a return. The helpful server helped us fine tune our order to bbq spareribs (succulent but least memorable) , fish with cilantro, and spicy green beans (the biggest hit of the night..I order these often in Chinese restaurants and this was one of the best renditions I have had). A cosmopolitan companion introduced me to the evaporated milk/fruit/shaved ice concoctions. Pleasant, well kept up room with good natural light. Became quite noisy on a Sunday night as large family groups arrived.
I haven’t had food like this since I left home! This is how my grandfather ate and lived. Peking Spare Ribs are a must. I really enjoyed the Roast Pork Wonton Noodle Soup. The crunchy pork skin took me back to when I was growing up.
Good bbq, noodles, and rolls. Haven’t had good Chinese for a couple of months, so we took a chance on Ho Mei, and it worked. Not a huge fan of Cantonese BBQ meats, but since that was one of their specialties, we tried the Honey BBQ Pork (very tender-chewy-tasty) and the Soy Sauce Chicken (also tasty, but served Chinese style at room temperature and sliced crosswise with the meat a little less done so it retained some adhesion to the bone…not as much of a fan of that). Also tried the BBQ Pork and Cilantro Rice Roll. This was the hit of the meal. The fresh rice noodle/wrap was very delicate and light. The Beef Chow Fun was excellent, with lots of very tender beef, and a slightly smoky flavor from the wok.I veered away from Cantonese and ordered the Spicy Green Beans (a Sichuan dish). The beans were nice and blistery and oily and tender and flavorful, but the heat in the dish was just a straight-forward blast of chili, nothing complex. It tasted like a Cantonese dish with a handful of chilis thrown in. Still, I liked them. The menu is huuuuuge. Lots more stuff to explore.
