Overall a great value. Everything was pretty good except for the tempura fried rolls. They were heavy and doughy. Which brings me to my biggest gripe. The menu is very nondescript. We had no idea the two tempura rolls we ordered were in fact tempura. The picture does not help as it is very low res and the list of ingredients made no mention of tempura or that the rolls are fried. That aside, the waiter was very friendly and helpful and the sushi was prepared very fast (as sushi should be). Sushi is meant to be a quick bite and not a 2 hour affair like at some places.

Amazing restaurant I come here once a week and they’re always amazing! I’m so surprised people are just going to slander an awesome restaurant.

STAY AWAY from this place!!! Trust me – this USED to be my favorite place to go for sushi, and I’ve been going for 6 years. We ate there a few months ago and noticed the sushi just didn’t taste good. In fact, I would have rather eaten to grocery store sushi. My husband and I went last night and give it another chance, and again, I was super disappointed. We actually said at the restaurant that the fish did not look fresh, and we wouldn’t be back. Now we both have FOOD POISONING and are super today.

This place used to have a line out the door and at least a 30 min wait for a table; it was great tasting sushi for a great price. A few years later they closed down for renovations and I think, during this time, new management took over. Since this renovation, the sushi has become horrible. This fish is old and colored different, they’re stingy on the amount of goodies they put in each roll (mostly rice and sauce). Old tasting fish is a scary though because you have no idea where that fish has been, and how old it really is. Last night we thought we would give it a second chance from the previous time we ate here in the fall, which we thought was just an off night for the sushi chef, and we would be back. Last night was my wife and I’s last time going here. My wife had stomach pain 30 minutes after we finished our meal. I woke up in the middle of the night wanting to vomit, and I was nauseous. The sushi was so bad we didn’t even finish it, it tasted old and funny. If you are looking for a second option, Ichiban down the road on state street has good rolls for a similar price, and they actually prepare the sushi safely, in my opinion. My wife and I are now turned off for sushi for a while. No telling when we will go out for sushi next. My review also joins several other reviews on the web with similar experiences. Sad day for this place because it was super good at one time. I think they changed their vendors to reduce their overhead, and are saving old fish to pinch some pennies. Hope one day this place turns around, but I won’t be the one to find out. My wife and I have been going here since 2011. Service has always been mediocre, but it was made up for by the sushi. Now its all bad.

It’s not exactly what it used to be, but it’s still delicious, fresh sushi for an absolutely awesome price. If you want only the freshest of fish (like a 9 out of 10) then this isn’t your place. But if you’re okay with a 7-8 on the freshness scale, paying about 30% what you’d pay at one of the more expensive sushi joints, then this is your jam.I can drop 15 bucks and have a massive sushi meal for my wife and I. Where else can you do that? It’s our go-to for the excellent quality-to-value ratio. I just wish we didn’t have to drive from Draper to get it.You want to know the true secret to the best Red Mermaid experience? Order by phone and pick it up. They’ve got it ready in 15 minutes and you’re on your way home to smash down some awesome sushi while binge-watching your favorite Netflix program.Give it a try. Don’t expect a high-end dining experience. Just expect value. Delicious value.

Yummy it my tummy sushi at an affordable price. Won ton soup kinda watery, but who cares. Friendly staff. You know how all waiters look alike.

Love the price at 50% off everything all the time and it was decent quality sushi but not a fan of the service. I had a waiter run after me because she supposedly didn’t charge me for a soda I was already in my car and she stood their till I handed her $2. I love the price so I just get all my orders to go.
