Closed on Saturday night. If I come back I will call before I head over here. We arrived about 7 o’clock Saturday night and it was closed. This seems like prime time for a restaurant to be open. We tried the pho restaurant in the same plaza and it was fabulous so it all worked out. I think its weird they were closed on Saturday night.
Good sandwiches. Sure, this place has some eccentricities (see my last review), but their sandwiches have grown on me. First off, they are huge for only $2.80. They aren’t the most authentic Bnh m, but they still have very good flavor to them. Their grilled pork is the most flavorful, while their combination is the most filling. My only complaint is that the bread is just a bit too hard. Also, their egg rolls are excellent and they make some tasty milk and fruit smoothies. They really are nice people but still learning the business. One thing is certain, it is an interesting place for a meal. I often wonder if customers can chill out on the couches and watch tv too, or is that family only?10 Apr, 2011Frozen spring rolls, ran out of sandwich bread. I’m sorry, but in a place well-known for their sandwiches, it’s unforgivable to run out of bread. We were told tough luck, someone had phoned in while we were ordering and nabbed the last 3 rolls. The lack of communication in this place between father and daughters up front is obvious. We tried their Boba teas, but they serve them too heavy on the milk here for our liking. Also, I like my fresh spring rolls cold, but theirs literally had ice crystals inside. Plus they had way too much filler lettuce, which was in early stages of browning. And why they precook their appetizers, wrap them in saran wrap, and place them by the cash register is beyond me. They attempted a modern feel with the decor, but they fell short, instead feeling stark, empty and lacking much traditional character. Even weirder is the big screen tv in the back corner that the entire family sits at all day. The video surveillance system is also in the dining area, so you can have the pleasure of watching yourself eat. It’s all very distracting. It’s not that they aren’t trying here, but it just seems that they have little idea how to run a place.
Really liked the pate chaud. The pate chaud had a terrific flaky crust, and very flavorful filling. The banh mi was okay. Pretty average.
Love their Vietnamese sandwich! They lack some details as other reviewer pointed and some taste of MSG, but their MSG tastes good.
For fast, delicious, authentic food, you can’t beat this place. Great guoi cuon (summer rolls), food bahn mi (sandwiches) and flavorful pho, which you have to ask for because you won’t see it on the menu. All fresh and inexpensive.
Great food, great prices!. Are you looking for the best spring rolls in the valley? Try Cafe Thao Mi. Fresh ingredients, wonderful peanut sauce.
