Good banh mi. I tried the banh mi cha lua and was pleasantly surprised. The bread was decent, not great, but to be fair, i tried it pretty late in the day.The fillings were quite good. The cha lua and pate were flavorful without being too obtrusive, while the cucumber was a nicely crisp and fresh surprise along with the usual daikon, carrot and chile. The more I ate this, the more it grew on me.I’ll be back.
Traditional and tasty Bnh mi. If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying a Vietnamese Bnh m sandwich, this is a great place to have one. Hong Phat’s are served on a very fresh and tasty baguette roll, they don’t pack it as full of veggies and meat as I would like, but they are still pretty big for only $3. Make your way through the maze of the market to the back where their hot deli counter is. They serve other traditional dishes back here as well, warming in large metal bins, but some look odd even to me, and I’ve tried it all. But I do love the Vietnamese egg rolls here as well, though they don’t give you fish sauce to dip them in which is a shame. This place is run by an extremely nice family. They are happy to answer any questions. I do have two complaints. I wish they would spray off their parking lot more often, as it can get dirty at times. And the lack of any tables to eat is an annoyance. So expect to eat in your car or take it home.
