Beansies was my favorite spot to grab a quick bite on a summer bike ride. No longer. Cold hot dogs, stale buns, soggy fries – and the meal costs 50% more. Such a shame to lose this once treasured spot on Battery Park.
I can’t pass up any kind of eatery that’s been in operation since 1941 like Beansie’s. My daughter’s great, great aunt used to work there in the 1950s :o) Very inexpensive grill food. We had Michigans (chili dogs) which hit the spot. LOVE the fries.
We had a combination of the usual fried offerings, all served quickly and cheerfully. The fries were great, but the Vermonter dessert (maple doughnut with vanilla soft serve) was the highlight of a four day trip filled with good food.
